Hello everyone,

Im pretty in-experienced when it comes to dealing with electronic wiring and such and i wanted to know if somone on here could walk me through the process of rewiring a dayton 265 cfm blower from 230 volt to 120 volt.

Can this be done, meaning rewire from 230 to 120???
If so is it easy enough for a dummy like me to undertake??

Thanks for all of your info and time everyone.

Is it multi-tap?I doubt it but look at the colored wires inside and see if they have different voltage labels on them.If they do,remove the wire labeled 230V thats under a wirenut with the lineside wire, and replace it with the wire marked 120V.Its also a good idea to cap off the unused 230V wire with a wirenut

Hey bob,

wow your really helpin me out here today, so what your saying is that yes infact it is possible to rewire the fan, but only if it is a multi-tap?

Is multi-tap where you can run them with different voltages and all you would have to do is switch the wires?

Im pretty sure that it is not multi-tap. here is a link to the same blower on a different site http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/wwg/itemDetailsRender.shtml?xi=xi&ItemId=1611688072

Can somone tell me if i can mod this blower (above link) to 120 volt or not?
Thanks all,

Dont think you can run that at 120v... It says its 230v, usually when they can be run on different voltages it will be listed as a range.... 120-277v or 120v/230v

Oh bartender i see what your saying, i feel like that could be another reason why the fan is so cheap (where im looking its only gonna be $45 after shipping) well i guess if i cant mod that blower its time to just mod up a stanley and get that baby blowing.
Thanks for the help bartender,

It's not worth the hassle IMO...I've got 2 120v dayton 265's and they are loud, inefficient and don't push enough air. Go with the stanley or an inline and you'll be much happier.

ok then stanley it is, thats what everything has been leading me twards anyways i just saw the deal on the dayton, i mean $45 including shipping sounded pretty good for it, but with the things i hear and see on here the stanley is definitly the way to go for me. thanks all i think i got it figured out now, guess its time to head to wallys world to pick me up a stanley blower.
Peace,
