Damn that sucks

I used a handlheld GPS unit to pinpoint some grow locations in the mountains near my place last fall. Those little handheld devices are gold for this shit.

Guerrilla growers and fishin guides should all have a handheld GPS device.

All hail the GPS for outddoor

All hail the GPS for outddoor

It is a lifesave for your lifesaver.

Not every one of us is as good at orienteering as others.

One couple I know lost thier plants in the rocky mountains from a number of seeds.

2 years later The feds found the area for them by what they called a 'huge growth'.

So... Did you have a GPS with you this time? Sure would suck if you couldn't find 'em again come Harvest Time. ;)

Glad you found them. They must have been lonely and chilly.

A GPS would only help if you had a transmitter to triangulate to near the plants right? Or do you Position yourself near the plot and lock in the #'s? Herb doesn't get out much. He needs a high tech hand holder. Ya'll are lucky (or unlucky depending on who You are) that I can make this puter type what I want it too.

Hey Herb!

I'm no GPS Expert... But the "transmitters" are satellites in a geosynchronous {stationary} orbit. There are, literally, a grid of 'em all around the planet... So, no matter where you are, even out in the middle of the ocean, you can flip the puppy {GPS} on, and it'll tell you precisely where you are.

I was on a Live-Aboard Scuba Diving trip in the Bahamas once {twice, actually} where they would use a GPS Locator to, literally, sail to within 25 yards of Anchor Lines they have placed on specific dive locations. Pretty cool!

What I meant was ....You would have to lock in the coordinates before now to find lost plants. A GPS would do no good unless you had one to begin with (and locked in your location) or placed a transmitter near the plot to be traced later (not a good idea IMHO). So you're saying a GPS will help you not lose them again NOT find the ones you just found? I'm down with the Global Satellite Network but it being there and buying a GPS to find your formerly lost plants doesn't make sense. A GPS can tell you where you are and where something else with a signal or Known coordinates is but not lost plants. You needed the unit when you planted them or at another visit when you knew where they were. Unless they have Plant finding GPS devices. (As Herb imagines someone screaming at a hand held GPS unit "They were on a sunny hillside near here. Yeah I'm sure they were Indica. Naw that's Bobs hybrids. I want my Indicas.")

LOL... That would be me, screaming at the damn thing!!!

No, you have it right, Herb. You would have to of had the unit with you in the first place, and record the position into it. Then the unit will help you retrace your steps back 'n forth to the plot from then on...

'course, you would wanna be damn sure not to misplace your GPS unit either. Else it'd help anyone else {LEO?} that has it find your plot as well!

IMHO dont record the location into it... Just write down the coordinates, or memorize (Even better...) then use the unit to help you get back...

Hey 'tender!

See, I have never actually used a GPS... And I was not sure that "writing it down" is feasible. I am certain they do not work in standard Lat/Long, as that's nowhere near accurate enough.

What notation do they use? Any idea? Is a given fixed location in a form that can easily be written, and/or memorized?

The GPS would have helped him find his lost plants........

Well the one that I have anyways, it is used by rescue people also to look for missing people, the way it helps is by not letting you search the same area twice. You punch in a section where you think they might be, and the gps will guide you through every step of the woods, and not let you cross your own path.

But good to hear you didn't need it.

Congrats DancesWithWeed!

I'm glad you found your girls and that they were not kidnapped.

Is there going to be a smoke report?

I can tell ya this so far.The early pearl was bigger than the early girl, and tha yeild i think might be around a lb from all four plants.Should have been bigger but really didnt feed them that much-1 time grow -1 time flower pretty much. And the first time i visited them after planting they were all grown over with ferns and brush. The smell on both of them is weak and kinda grassy right now cuz their stil a little wet.But the buds are really full and not alot of leaves to trim. The early pearl is kinda a lime green with brown hairs and it looks really soft. The early girl has got a reddish darker color now that its been drying.I snuck a bud off the bottom of the early pearl and kinda fast dryed it on the top of my reciever vent.It has a spicey mellow taste and not real expando-i like it.The ash is real soft n grey cuz i only gave them pure blend bloom once in the beginning so there was nothin in it to ever need flushin .This wasnt cured or dryed correctly so i imagine that its goin to tast real nice when its done right.Waitin for camera so will take a pic with what i got left when i get it.And will let ya all know the real smoke report.Im pretty buzzed off it right now , ive been smokin schwagg for awhile. But i can tell that the potency will be good once cured.
