Revolution Deva and HTG supplies dirty Ushio / BLV bulb swap

So I am currently in the preparation of constructing my new room. My old room was in a basement with a low ceiling so air cooled reflectors were a near necessity.

My new room has a peaked roof 12' high in the middle and I am excited at the prospect of running double ended lights for the first time. Friends have suggested quite strongly that I should go with gavita but in my research I found myself quite interested in the Revolution Deva (pronounced dave-a) I found the fact that they used and included a Ushio bulb to be quite interesting as I am familiar with Ushio and have found them to make a high quality product.

So when I purchased them and opened the box I was surprised to find that the preinstalled bulb was branded "BLV" I called the light manufacturers Atlanta offices and asked if they had switched bulbs and I was shocked at their answer. I was informed that the company behind the lights is also the OEM for a number of other brands including Autopilot controllers and Phantom lights. They fulfilled an order from HTG supply for 1500 units of the Deva. HTG in turn had their warehouse workers remove the supplied Ushio bulbs and replaced them with a cheaper bulb to maximize profits.

One of the original claims that interested me to these lights was a 0.01 failure rate. The manufacturer said they got a well above average number of warranty returns all with faulty lamp sockets and the BLV bulbs installed. It seems that when the bulbs were swapped they were often removed roughly enough that it broke the sockets. Consequently the manufacturer no longer honors the warranty on the units "tainted" by HTG.

I am still excited by these lights and I plan to fill the room with them but I will be very careful to take a good look at the sockets .

Im ditching my Rev Micro DEVA lights. they do not hold up in a room with high humidity and possible water vapor condensing on the fixture. the PCB will short out or get hard water residue on it and cause them not to work. just a result of having a PCB fully exposed to the grow room environment. none of my gavita, gavita china knockoffs or phantom DE lights have an issue since they are all sealed. ive now gotta throw away half of my 400+ dollar lights and getting a new PCB from revmicro cost as much as just buying a new sealed fixture from a different maker and a wait time of over 6 weeks. Just warning others who may have high humidity rooms with possible condensation on the fixtures. Don't even think about using these in a light assisted greenhouse.
