Sorry guys, 'ol Barn doesn't have enough posts to PM and I already rep'ed him a reply.
They still have OT1-H @ seedbay.

Breeder's Choice sells the same OT1 Haze as Pure Haze, just to let you know you do have options in where you buy. Buy into the genetics, not the drama.

Hello to all sativa lovers!

First i wanted to say that this thread is great and thank you, Motaco, for bringing about it here to IC.
I wanted also to ask one question that has bother me since I have started to smoke...

What strain exactly smoked Bob Marley?
I know only that he was smoking pure lambsbread ganja, guess that was pure sativa, thats why i am asking in this thread.

I hope that someone from here know the answer... if so, please, answer, you'll help me a lot - my dream is to smoke marijuana which was smoked by the great man and artist - Robert Nesta Marley.

Peace,
Buffalo

Good question there man, I’ve often wondered that myself but never thought of asking, hmmmm. “Sagarmatha Seeds” company mentions that Western winds (Kali mist) was favored by rastas, not sure how long it’s been around for though. Just thought it’s worth mentioning.
It'll be great to know what Bob himself smoked and if the strains still around.

Cheers.

What strain would you Sativa guru's recommend if I only had a 2'Lx2'Wx4'H space to grow in?? Originally I wanted to try Arjan's Haze #3 because it was bred to be shorter but now im not so sure and was wondering if some guidance would be possible.

i asked this question earlier, but never got an answer, and since it is kinda related to eLigul's question i will ask it again ... when growing lanky sativas, does one follow the plants natural inclination and just try to focus all the flowering on one big cola , or what ?

Ok,I'll jump in first. That'll depend on your grow style;scrog,SOG or straight up?What light do ya use,150,250...
My little grow is 2-1/2' x 2' x about 2',with a 150hps.I generally veg my sats for 3-4 weeks before inducing flower.I have been playing with the 12/12 from seed method lately, but the jury is still out on that one.... I keep all limbs.I haven't topped a plant yet, that I remember.I grow under a rickety old homemade oak and copper wire scrog screen that works fine for tying limbs off to.
I train the main colas and limbs in such a way as to recieve the best light. If a fan leaf can't be positioned, and yes, tied,to prevent shading of the buds,it's removed. As the colas and limbs stretch,I allow them to go to the next best tie down spot then add another tie.I grow through, then above my scrog, not below,as it helps if I have to reposition everybody. This is impossible if they are twisted through and underneath the screen. So far,I haven't lost controll of a sativa.
If I keep everybody tied down to basically the same level,I can keep my light about 6" above my plants.Again, lately I've been playing around with letting them grow taller above the screen and raising the light as needed.I was really surprised with one variety and ended up with my first indoor 13-1/2 inch cola.
The longest plant I have grown out in the scrog style was about 4 foot long, and it was snaked all around the place, lol, but under control nontheless.
I'm sure there are some of the old genetics or landraces that would overwhelm my little space in no time, but I haven't had anything from bagseed like that yet.I'm looking around for some store-bought seeds now and am sure I'll run up on one that will eventually,we'll see.Hope that long winded reply helped a little, lol.
Peace

@greengrow. sorry I missed your question, when I scroll through the thread if its not a larger body of text or have a pic attached alot of times it'll go by in a blur and I'll miss it.

when growing any plant really you should take the plants natural growth into consideration. If you have a single cola dominant commercial SOG type strain if you try to top it alot of times the tips don't want to take off. or sometimes when you top a stubborn sativa the new shoots will come off spindly and weak. (continuing to look like lateral branches instead of becoming dominant growth tips if you feel me)

so yeah I'd take the natural growth into consideration. and if its a branchy strain there is no sense in having an uneven christmas tree canopy. but it all depends on the strain and how you're going to grow it. so there is no one answer to that question.

but in general. sativas indoors. its hard to beat tight spacing SOG. The light penetrates real deep and they area always narrow plants so you can pack some nice broom stick buds in there tight since they have thin leaves. indicas always take up half the growspace in leaf canopy. and most sativas can be coaxed into a main dominant cola relatively easily. thats the most efficient way to do it IMHO, if your not scared of high plant #s.

@Buffalo. you can get the strains bob marley smoked pretty easily. you see bob marley smoked alot of weed. so if you get a few jamaican strains from the area bob grew up in chances are some of the strains bob was toking are mixed up in the same genes local farmers are growing there today.

there was alot of confusion regarding jamaican strains. in the early days the jamaicans didn't really name things. there were different varieities but like the old saying goes: there used to just be good weed and bad weed. when the sensimilla deal hit jamaica names came with it. but most of them call weed pretty much whatever gets it to sell.

when bob was talking about lambsbread people thought he meant a strain. what he was saying is just like when you buy a pack of seeds out of the 6 or so females 5 will be good but there is one special one that kicks ass. well thats all bob was talking about. he meant he smokes the good ones that pop out of the bunch. He was saying lambsbread is this one plant that grows just right, jahs way and makes you feel like you wanna feel, and is superior to other weed. etc. and people thought he meant a strain, but he just meant individual plants within the patch.

But anyway long story short. go to jamaica. go to bobs home town. buy some sativas from the rastas. go smoke on this rock where bob used to write songs. talk to this tour guide. and thats as close as you'll get.

rasta tour guide.

You can´t :D

Read motaco´s post ^^^
There were several known varieties many years ago:
Besides of Lambsbread,Jerusalem Bread and Cotton, there were (are? "Goat´s Horn" and "McConey".Varieties such as "Bush" and "Mad" are inferior, less taste etc and usually were the ones sold to tourists :D
EDIT:I forgot the "Collie" :D

Raco, do you have any info is the "Goat´s Horn" related to "Goatshit"?

I know it´s nearly impossible to answer this, but I would love to hear your thoughts about this if you have any...

@motaco: I was also checking that Hawaian sativa, because I have heard many members (who´s I got respect) here have recommend it!

On the other hand, I have too many different strains to grow at the moment and too little space, so I think I have to pass it this time...

Here´s some pic´s of B-52 gal who is going in flowermode inside week or two:

This is the first time I run this cut myself, but I have sampled her many times when friend has growed her and must say this is very inspirating erb that keeps your mind motivated etc. Only thing about her is she really do reek!!!!!!

Yeah, was thinking about getting Federation's Hawaiian Sativa, probably a pretty good sativa dom like the CTS. I think I'm gonna wait to see if those Cherry Bomb (maui wowie) seeds ever come back around though

cb2? I grew it too. at the same time as the hawaiian sativa. molokaii frost was going at the time too, it was a regular pakalolo party. they all came out great, but the cb2 was easily 3rd place. it really wasn't even a contest. knocked it out the water like sophie monk over nicole richy.

smoked all the HS too damn fast to even get a pic of it. lol. but I got a pic of the cb2 I can dig up.

the HS is pretty damn heavy. I read in the Big book of buds about it being "an all day smoke for those who can toke freely thoroughout the day" and that is so much bullshit. if you smoked it everyday you'd be FRIED. it yields decent, nice colas. smells like tropical fruitloops and oranges but pungently sweet that pierces your nose with a minty menthol kinda tingle.

I grew seeds a friend gave me free and it was pretty stable with one really stellar specimen. one of the most resinous plants I've ever seen. especially for a sativa. puts out like a hashplant. and the stone follows suit. as I've mentioned before I have been accused of letting my plants go later than some people like, which gives a more stony kind of high. But the HS is a weird high. its a sativa and extremely happy and euphoric but its so strong you really can't get off the couch. but you'll always have enough energy to hit that sativa again. if you can work up the nerve. and it smokes very smooth

I ranked it slightly higher than molokaii frost. my roomate felt the other way, he liked the MF better because it had most of the qualities of the HS (delicous pakalolo taste, mellow euphoric high, soft smoke, etc) except it didn't obliterate you like the HS. so he liked it better for functionality.

the CB was good but it wasn't very potent. its an all day kinda smoke, like a weaker more sativa bubblegum sorta. Very aesthetically pleasing though. and a high yield. if your looking for a big yield of some bud that tastes great and won't get you that stoned I do reccomend CB. You can smoke blunts of it alone no prob. Its a weird weed too though. I can elaborate if you like but anyway long story short they were all good, but the MF, and the HS really stood out. but HS is more along the lines of a diesel or trainwreck kinda deal, but of a higher quality stone IMHO, and the CB was more of a daytime smoke while your busy kinda weed.

one bad thing I can say about HS though is CRASH AND BURNout. when the fun stops but you collapse and wake up feeling like that old commercial "this is your brain on drugs"
When I first saw this pic I thought it might be a pic of HS. it looks very similiar except HS is more of a neon lemon kinda color. I'm not positive so forgive me if I'm wrong but I think this is a pic from L33T la nina. but trich coverage and bract shape was near identical to this pic. I gotta say my seeds weren't from FED directly, they were gifted, but it seemed stable.

and here is an old pic of the cb2 I grew before katrina. huge nugs. and I gotta say about cb2, I heard years ago when he re released it he was gonna change a parent to increase potency. I don't know if it ever happened though.

Motaco- No, the "Cherry Bomb II" "CB2" etc wasn't what I meant. I was talking about Greengenes Cherry Bomb which is supposed to be a cherry flavored Maui Wowie pheno, pure sativa.

The HS sounded good until that couchlock thing, that doesn't sound to good to me, but I prefer weed you can do manual labor on,haha.
