@ bonecarver

is that the highland oaxaca the one floating around that several people have? I have seeds of it but I never grew that one yet.

how's she smoke? is she very trippy and do you have more pics? I was happy to see that good looking pheno I didn't think you had any finished yet though.

@ hardhat

glad you like the thread. we'll be interested to hear how your cross comes.

i think the oaxaca highland came from a gypsy freebee or something - and i got it gifted from Timbo back at the overgrow days :D

that pheno was very fast finishing, but i didnt reveg it since the stone was more or less quite plain, mostly bodystone, but not too much head action. it was good looking though and proves once again landrace sativas are worth growing indoors.

one of the most impressive feats of the oaxacan highland was its enormous ability to withstand heat. the fact the region (we who been there know the sand on the beaches are so hot its almost a P.I.A to walk barefeet..) is very hot has made this ibl a very heat resistant mofo, and seriously i didnt see any signs of slowing down etc at all.

if possible i really want to get my hands on more oaxacan or other hot-region sativas from mexico.

the short flowering time is a definite plus.. around 10 weeks.

sorry - dont have any more pics.. smoked it all allready also.. im not much for curing, anyway in the heat we got it more or less jsut ruins the bud while its drying, it dries too quick! :D

peace all! :D

oh shit. thats not the oaxaca I have. the guy that gave me my highlands was skeptical of that one from gypsy being an actual oaxaca. but who cares. a good mexican sati is a good mexican sati.

I have a highland oaxaca from a family thats been out there 3 hundred years growing it supposedly, an oaxaca from a hippy in texas who lived in oaxaca in 68-69, and of course my lowland sugarcane oaxaca, which I foolishly let go extinct as far as I know.

but there are several other oaxacas which I have seen but never grown. and a nearly endless amount of others from different regions. there is alot of weed in mexico its amazing how little we know about it.

id be happy to get my hands on some lima limon or sticky retardo :D

i was surprised the result of the freebies was ok - or rather 50% ok - since the other one is REALLY odd - and i think its not going to flower at all!

im sure the pheno u got is way more interesting!

peace mate

Makes me frigging DROOOOOOOOOL looking at those pictures!!!!! STOP IT! LOLOLOL!!

I know I should be paying attention to my lil baby seedlings in my current grow, but I can't help but be envious. I want to grow my Durban Poisons or Malawi Golds NOW but I have to wait. I hope I have the skills to grow them out!!

On my current grow my seeds have sprouted thusly, 5/5 Ice(leftover seeds I had) 9/10 Satori, and 10th one is coming I think) 8/10 Cali-O and I had to kill one of those seedlings cause i messed up.

The Thai-Tanics are only 6/11 so far. They are really taking their time about sprouting. Are longer germ/sprout times typical of strains having Thai in them, or the more sativa leaning strains?

Thanks

I'm obsessed by how you guys are able to grow these long flowering strains in such tiny containers. I doubt this is a new idea, but I'll ask anyway.

What about making a "trellis" of sorts. Maybe like a tomato trellis. Or make it like a cone and spiral the main stem around the cone...that would let it grow a "long" main stem, but in a long spirraling path at a lower height? e.g. say an eight foot main stem "wound around" in a spiral might only be 3-4 feet high What diameter "trellis" or cone? Would 18" diameter be big enough?

Anyone do something like this? I'd love to see a "Sticky" made on how to grow sativas in small spaces with small pots. Assume noobs like me know next to "nothing" which is my case :joint:

Good luck to all in your grows. I think I have 9/11 Thai-Tanics sprouted now. They were just slow coming up. Maybe Iplanted seeds too deep?

interesting approach, oblidio . please allow me to insert another newbie question to you experienced sativa growers ... because of the lanky nature of most (all ?) sativas, do you people try to focus the growth on large colas ?

good thread, by the way .

this is a mexican from a bag of schwagg its been like a month from seed. I have thrown out all the males and this one has a single nub that comes straight up doesnt look like a football kinda like a little finger so im guessing female. Hoping to see a little more because the wait is killing me. THe size of the leaves are huge compared to my other ind. dom strain in there which has started flowering and is a week younger atleast. They also seem quite wide. Could this be more landrace than hybrid? I know the space is small but its just for fun and doesnt seem deficient. Any ideas? I know im asking a lot.

peace

The size of the plant is much bigger in relation to the ind. one you can see the difference in the trunk size as well. As you can see in the third pic the top is spitting out more leaves with more fingers on them i think up to 9 maybe more now.

peace
