Revival of the REVIVAL of the ULTIMATE SATIVA THREAD a.k.a R.U.S.T II

Year 2000 New Caledonia private source - started @80 seeds, 65 or so came up, narrowed down to 7 Females & 1 Male, Male was sneaky & pollinated much heavier than expected, it always happens ha… Seeds within will be P3, hermaphrodites have all been eliminated in this round… I wanna say initial bulking was 15-20F and a few males

I’ve been selecting towards the more NLD plants but also smells. One path is very strong carrot path (I don’t like the smell but know the quality of high) and the other (my preference) a beautiful lime citrus fruit zest + roses, New Caledonians have a wide range of beautiful terps, and X out exceptionally well IME… One other plant I kept smelled exactly like caps as a kid, gunpowder / Smokey smell to it

cap smelling plant and one of last to flower even though most BLD looking, this plant is a beast !

I grew out two females a few seasons ago it was good smoke but not particularly up .I am certain that it's not a pure African sativa. One plant looked a lot like smellybalaz plant did , the other was quite a different pheno. Here they are pictured on November 1 at 40 degrees north .I liked the loose one with the resinous leafy bracts better View attachment 19110520 View attachment 19110519
Thanks for the response! I'd say the bud in the first pic looks more interesting but the second plant looks like it may yield heavier. I'd go with the first pic probably but this is just from looks obv.

Most folks like chunkier buds they have better bag appeal and trim easier but the loose one had more resin and was just better smoke
I tend to prefer less dense bud also. I heard on a pod cast that the dense buds flavor isn't on par with a looser bud when smoked in a pipe, not finished but finished later. I'd have to agree that the flavor is different. I'm after sativa and they tend to be less compact. I'm also liking less dense buds as mold and other pathogens of the like are less likely.

Edit: just saw led05 comment, apparently I'm not the only one 🙂

Nice! I was actually researching for this variety the other day but didn’t find much info. Seems to be sold out everywhere. Please keep us updated! Really curious how accurate the Thai label is.
Ape Origins Thaifun Horizon - So I just got around to smoking some . It has a unique sweet floral smell and smokes up really smooth with a thick smoke . It smells familiar but I can’t remember what . It’s really relaxing and not at all up but happy and as before I don’t believe it’s pure Thai

Thanks for the update! I checked a few threads on the variety and it looked pretty broad leaved and not very convincing from its structure. So that‘s off my list now.

A couple of my crosses with a very nice Super Silver Sour Thai Nevil mother and a ThaiFrican father.
Both parents from OJD at Connoisseur.
These were started in tiny pots late summer, ignored and starved,
then put outside in the shade of their mother, aunty and ... half siblings (?)
Only got decent sun starting in November after I harvested the big girls.

The first is a bit more hybrid looking, quite thick at this point.

The next one is more Thai leaning, nice and slow, puffy flower.

I had / have seven of them, looking for a male to cross back to the mother.
What happened? All females.... what?!?!
There are a few other phenos, including a 'Pearl' and a heavier SSSDH leaning diesel stinky one, too, and the rest are in between.
Two F1 lines crossed, of course they're going to be all over the place, but that's the fun!

Perhaps it’s time I stop hoarding decades of my seed making & squirrling them away…. Too much lost already, this is about half the collection as I’ve got this shit out for reorganization, man I’ve gotta admit it’s a bit overwhelming & not sure where to begin - ha

Probably close to 10 million seeds, gotta be near a thousand different iterations dating back to mid 90’s at least, 99% I personally made the seeds, 1% are gifts or bought

I bet it rivals most breeders & banks, what you think?

Edit: wee bit tmd there….
