Reverted osmosis water - worth the trouble?

Hi all

Just wondering if my reverted osmosis setup would be worth the extra work, instead of my 7,6ph - 0,5 ec tapwater? It makes 60 liters per hour, so thats what I mean about extra work... will be 1 hour filling 60 liter in my 80 liter container.

Also, if I choose the osmosis water, i have read that 99,9% af all particles will be removed from the water. So will I then have to add som extra to the water? before my nutrients.

Hope somebody knows the answer...

Happy Weedend

I say it's more then worth the trouble. Even though some of the stuff in your tap water is good for plant growth, it is better to add it back in at a known measure. The bad stuff in the water that keeps algae from growing in your pips can reduce you plants growth and potential. Tap water will grow plants, just not as well as reverse-osmosis or distilled.

Thanks Rumpleforeskin

Do you know which of the "bad stuffs" I have to find and add? I know that I need something, but cant remember the names, and the threads im searching doesnt answer it...

Most people call it plant food :bashhead:

I have a great premix recipe that I used for years. No plant food is ever needed.
It's called Vic's Super Soil:

1 Bale sunshine mix #2 or promix (3.8 cu ft)
8 cups Bone Meal - phosphorus source
4 cups Blood Meal - nitrogen source
1 1/3 cups Epsom salts - magnesium source
3-4 cups dolomite lime -calcium source & pH buffering
4 cups kelp meal.
9kg (25 lbs) bag pure worm castings

- Mix thoroughly, moisten, and let sit uncovered 1-2 weeks before use.

Hi again

Your Vic's Super Soil recipe. Is it a recipe for:
1-soil to grow in?
2-preparation of the soil?

I allready have the ladies running in BioBizz Light Mix, and leca in the bottom. Will repot only ones from 5 to 20 liter pots. (1 week before flower)

I have following nutrients, hope they can work with RO water?
Rhizotonic
Canna Terra Vega
Canna Terra Flores
Cannazym
AN - Sweatleaf
AN - BigBud
AN - Carboload
AN - Hammerhead pk 9/18
AN - Final Flush

I have EC and PH tester to correct the values

Well, so this grow I will finish in the soil I bought, but will the nutrients I bought work? think I read somewhere here, quote: AN almost demands RO water to really show their capability.

Im not the big physician, so what will my plant need extra? oterwise I will premix RO water and normal water to about 100 ppm (also 1 from here who does this)

Thx again

I just buy spring water since I can't afford an RO filter. IT works a lot better than my tapwater, which I think has too much shit in it to grow plants effective....not to mention you wouldn't wanna put that shi t in your body. This seems to work for me, but I'm wondering what ya'll think.

Peace,

I allready have an Reverted Osmosis filter, so my question was more like:
Anybody who knows what I will have to add? what does tapwater include, that my nutrients doesnt?

But thx, anyway...

Do you know if my nutrients will give my plants all they need?
Will be using: (Canna Terra Vega + Flores, Rhizotonic, Cannazym, AN-Sewatleaf, AN-BigBud, AN-Carboload, AN-Hammerhead pk 9/18 and AN-Final Flush)

If I dont find my answer here, I will go like another icmag user - he mixes tapwater + RO water to hit 100 ppm.

Kind regards
Thomas

Hmm... just been reading some other threads about RO water. Many people mentions the product Cal-mag, and one says, use RO + cal mag as a base and then add your nutes.

Anybody who can say a go for that? would rather be safe than sorry, have also been reading that RO water also is capable of hurting the plants.

Or can you tell me which minerals to look for at my nutrients? what good minerals i loose when filtering to RO

Thanks for the help!
