It was a short and love filled life and I will remember you.

I hope there is an after life because I know I have a friend in you.

I have spent some time realizing her death today. It was a knock on the door, a respectful knock on the door, and a neighbour boy that informed me this morning.

I have had time to understand she died instantly. I also understand that until that moment she lived life with enthusiasm. After all she had a home and love plus really good food! She had the love of a mother towards myself and Jack, her foster brother, and had shown that love and loyalty early on. She knew and believed in our family; her home.

When I picked her up off that street she smelled fresh! Like I would expect of her being alive and sleeping by my pillow.
She died instantly and I believe the body hadn't experienced fear or pain. Nothing suggests to me she suffered in any way beside the head trauma of being run over by a car tire.

I cannot wish death on a pet nor would I say Missy lived a long life and this was a tragic end to a lifetime of companionship but I would be wrong on both accounts.
She lived all her life and that if she had to die I would wish a quick and merciful death. Her injuries were such that I would think brain death was the direct and instant cause of death. No suffering outside of this single event.

She was the answer to a longing for a companion after another death of a companion.

Missy succeed in being a true companion even before today and I had started to count the days I was happy to be alive with a true companion around again.

So she had achieved what a cat wants, a sense of control and "dependence satisfied" with food and social relationships. She was full of enthusiasm for life. She lived every moment here knowing she was cared about and that "Home" was there.
When I went for her the looks of her body and knowing what it looks and smells like for cats to suffer after being hit by a car I have no reason to believe she had any delay in death or experienced trauma while she died. It was a merciful death.

So Missy paid the Dues with me and sweetly so and she had reward of my love for her loyality. She would have had no reason to doubt the next moment of life.

It's a bummer to write for such a young companion except it is a bigger bummer not to write for such a young companion.

So again we are reminded life is precious and short. Live well.

The Cat’s Diary

Day 983 of My Captivity

My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.

The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet. Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates my capabilities. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a “good little hunter” I am. Bastards!

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of “allergies.” I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow, but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released, and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded. The bird must be an informant. I observe him communicate with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe. For now …

Too bad to hear man, I love animals too, losing a pet is quite a pain indeed.

Reminds me of the day I found James (adorable male cat - James Bond was his name because his fur had a smoking-suit pattern) lying on the road one morning, just like you described, no apparent sign of suffering/fear, instant death because he was hit in the head.

Best wishes man :joint:

be sure to bury well

be sure to bury well

When my young daughters cat was run over and killed i buried her at the end of the flower bed .
obviuosly not deep enough came home one day about 3 mnths later to find our dog had dug up the remains and was happily tossing his old friend up in the air and around the garden .

I know how you feel. This was my baby. He loved the shade of the canopy and taking short naps with my ladies.
