Good God it's spring time again, and things are moving fast here at the Ranch. I've missed alot of my IC pals and cant wait to follow along on all the great grows we will have here in NorCal. I've been wanting to get this grow journal started for a couple weeks but it's been nearly impossible. I've got a new job since last years go-round and it's been eating my time up in large portions, but I'll always have time for our beloved.
So let me give you the run down on the grow before I ramble on for another senseless paragraph. I'll be growing out 18 plants in a mix of 100 and 200 gallon smart pots, mostly 100's. I believe I have 4 200 galloners, 1 forsure is fucked and unusable but I might be able to afford a couple more big guys. If anyone has any 200g in good shape near the bay area hit me up please, love to trade.
I thought long and hard over the winter on which strains I was going to run this year. It wasn't easy but I think I have a good wide array to work with. Having over 300 packs of seeds doesn't help make the selection easier either. Here's what I've got going:
Peyote Purple from Charlie Garcia
Chem Ripper from Chrome...much <3 sir
Blue Dream/5g's from Ganja Rebel Seeds
ECSD/Durban also from Ganja Rebel
Strawberry Floss my own creation
Casey's Dream from house of Love
Peyote Purple/Querkle from Hammerhead
I had great germ rates on everything but the PP/Querkles, I got 2 out of 5 to pop. All the others were 100% with a 24 soak and 1-2 days in a sealed tupperwear container. All the babies have been transplanted into rockwool cubes or soil cups(few were to big for cubes with only 1 day in the container, was like a 70;s bush when I saw the paper towel, all fluffed with goodness) and are outside in trays with lids.
For my soil I'll be amending my old soil, will be adding 2 yards of mushroom and hog compost along with an arms length list of goodies, I'll get to in the future. I grew white and crimson clover as ground cover in the pots over the winter and have now chopped and dropped the clover. I've emptied all the pots so I can mix each pot again in a week or two when the compost cools a bit. I will be adding more clover seed as soon as I get the pots filled aswell. I'm hoping to have the seedlings in by May 1st, if not a few days earlier.
heres a look at the pots over the winter-
I had a Rez Chem/sour herm late on me last year. so I've been killing startups like this lil shit all winter. had 10+ plants live all winter in these pots, with multi-frosts, was pretty awesome to see how hardy she can really be.
I think I've got the bascis covered so far, please dont hesitate to ask questions or comment. Check out my albums from years past to get a clue as to what conditions and space I have to use, its not much but I do get by alright.
I'll leave you with some tunes, please grab your favorite smoking utensil and partake while listening, I hope you enjoy.
