Symphilids
Small pests that are tan to white colored and look like centipedes. They are very deadly to the plants, because they burrow down into the roots and damage them by feeding of them. Your plants leaves will begin to die off. They are found mostly in soil composites that have not been cleaned, like soil that has additives in them such as animal manure.
(I know it will smell funny but sterilizing the soil in the oven for 30 min can kill any pests in the soil, heat to 350 for 30 min.) They are easy to tell if you have them, because they come to the top soil when your plant is being watered, if you find you do have them, use Fungus Gnat Killer (“B.T." a non chemical, biological control) in the powdered form. One application should kill it, just to be safe repeat every 7 days to kill off the larvae. Tobacco juice kills them as well! And nematodes.
What you may need to know: constant veg, so not a flowering prob.
NOW...this is what I think....help me out here:
- the soil (MGO) has fertilizer derived from chicken manure
- I just watered today
I need to know this:
1. can these things be seen by the naked eye, if so do they look like the pic in the infirmary...or is that magnified????
2. do they decide to start crawling up the main steam and making their way through out the bush???
BECAUSE IF THEY CAN/DO...then this is my problem...if not, I'm gonna need more help
WHAT I SEE: small, thin greyish/blackish moving lines...kinda a larve looking thing....but very, very tiny. The planters are white, so it was an easy spot, as they are on the rim too. Barely visible with the eye....at first I thought I was just imagining....but after watching closely , I could see the little bastards moving. ...and they are moving in numbers.....
