I am going to be running a Aeroflo 60 system and I know that the area I am moving to and its going to be hot very hot out and I well need to get a chiller of somekind. Can anyone point me in the right direction of one. I am not good at building things or changing over a watercooler so I would rather just buy a unit hook it up plug it in and I have coller water. Also the water is very hard every couple year you have to replace the toilet flap as it turns to mush. So a good whole house unit for treating the water. I think the res for that Aeroflo is a 40 gallon one.

Hy Sah,

It really depends on where you live, as to which brand is locally available, but a good start is an aquarium shop, as fish keepers (especially marine) need chillers.
So, aquarium watter chillers come as "plug&play", but expect to pay a few hundred $ depending on size and cooling abilities.
Hope this helps a little.

Check out the 1/4 HP EcoPlus chiller on eBay, $500 with free shipping. Most units like these will require you to hook up a pump to it (not included). There are some units that have drop-in coils. Not sure how hot it is out there, but a 1/4 HP chiller should be more than enough for a 40-gal rez. Specs are -10F pulldown @ 170gal, -30F pulldown @ 100gal. This is the system I was going to buy before some emergency money issues came up... then I had to settle for a DIY water cooler system.

For the RO system, I got a 100GPD 6-stage RO+DI system with a 4-gallon storage tank and auto-shutoff valve, and an extra set of filters for $150-ish after shipping. You can also get a "reef" system which is basically the same thing without a tank for a bit less. But for general-purpose home use as well, the tank system would be ideal. The storage tank, which typically sits under the kitchen sink in a typical home, also comes with its own faucet which easily installs on the ... little covered hole ... on the sink, if there's nothing already installed there (like sprayer). There are a few different configurations, different daily output capacities, etc. eBay is a great place to shop for 'em, IMO.

When using a "reef" unit, a Plastic barrel with a self filling float float valve setup makes a nifty and easy to engineer large R.O. storage reserve water unit. :)

This site sells used aquarium supplies. I got my chiller for 190.00 it is a 1/3 hp and would have cost me 589.00 on slug-bay. They are posted all the time and thought I would share with the group.

In the summer time these little baby's pay for themselves.

Thanks...

The outside air temps well push 110-120 at most and i'll be keeping the AC on at around 70-75.
