Requesting a simple feeding regimen

Relaxed

Hi. I've been through a few grows with limited success but have had terrible troubles getting my feeding down pat. Usually I have burned my plants. Hopefully someone could recommend a schedule that is simple and fits my supplies. Of course I'm open to other suggestions though.

I'm using Promix in pots and either GH Flora 3-part or Holland Secret 3-part and feeding manually. Note that I prefer to feed at every watering for simplicity.

If I receive no replies I will be using the Holland Secret at 1/4 strength every watering.

This grow will be White Widow under a 250 watt plus a 150 watt HPS.

All help is very appreciated.

Attatched is a pic of my last grow which brings a tear to my eye.

My last grow was WW with 3 part GH in FFOF. I fed them @ 1/2 every other watering. I never burnt it, but they were most certainly UNDERFED. I kicked it up about 3 weeks into flower. Got good results but most certainly could do a lot better on round Two.....

@ 1/4 feed, watering every 3-5 day's they will starve, especially in Promix.

Relaxed.... couple of things:
First, do not feed every watering. I know its easy to get used to feeding every water but its not good for your girls. They need time to flush, cycle, and circulate the nutrients. Feed every other watering. I promise your plants will look MUCH happier and healthier after a week because they wont be constantly processing these intense nutrients. Not to mention, when you give them plain water the soil gets flushed a bit, because your supposed to water until a *little bit* of water dribbles from the bottom of the pot. This is extremely important. This is my water schedule:
sunday: feed
tues: water only
friday: feed
and it continues like that, giving them water/feeding every 3 days or so.

About those nutes your using, take your own advise! You posted this post with "simple" in the title. those nutes are not simple!!! You need to learn how to grow a plant all the way through without crazy shit. The problem with those 3 part nutrients and a new grower is that you dont know what is hurting your plants or not. Maybe your getitng too much magnesium, ph balance fuck up, over nuting, who knows? That plant is in bad shape. Stick with the basics! For veg, i recommend pure blend pro vegetative, and thats all! For flower, i recommend pure blend pro flower (soil formula), and thats all!! I promise you, once you learn how to grow your girls with just water and a good base nute like pure blend pro, THEN start adding the micronutrients like liquid karma during your veg and flower period. THEN maybe after that grow you can start adding a flower enhancer like Canna Pk 13-14.
The biggest mistake new growers make is buying tons of crap for their garden like advanced nutrients and super bloom crap. A good grower shouldnt even need most of these things in the first place. I bet you any of the senior/seasoned growers on this forum could grow the dankest shit on earth with good genetics and a bottle of pure blend pro (veg and flower) because they know their plants.
Im really just cracking the tip of the iceberg right now. There are so many other factors im thinking about right now that could help you. Where are you getting your water from? Whats your water/soil ph? Whats the temperature in your garden? etc etc....
Take some more pics and we can chat some more :)

Thanks for the replies guys

sensirocker:
I use tap water that is at 7.0ph which I drop to about 6.5. Grow room temps are in the high 70s, low 80s and humidity sits at about 45%. Is Pure Blend suitable for Promix? I don't mind trying new nutes since I have had less than acceptable performance from my past grows.

This grow I will definitely feed every other watering as your advice makes a lot of sense.

I'll see if I can find some Pure Blend Pro to try out. Do you follow the label or modify it for growing in the Promix medium?

Thanks again.

I don't think you can talk about nutrients without first talking about your medium. What type of potting soil/mix are you using? How long is your grow cycle?
I have always fed at each watering, and have never burned a plant. But I never water a pot from the top, and grow on a very short cycle in sea-of-green: one week grow and seven weeks flower, with plants in one gallon containers and mixes such as Fox Farm Light Warrior or Sun Gro Black Gold.
Generally, pH is not an issue using soil or soil-less mix. If the tap water is about 8, typical around here (pH is kept high by the water co. to avoid picking up lead from solder and generally corroding the pipes), then adding nutrients will make it slightly acid, say 5.2 to 6.2. The mix will buffer the acid, because it has something like dolomite or oyster shell lime specifically for that purpose.
If you are going to use "soil", why not relax and take advantage of its benefits?

My grow medium is Promix with added perlite and a little dolomite lime. This grow I will be keeping the plants small (Had some AK47 get to almost 6 feet by accident - they quadrupled in height during flower). I'll be swithing to flower as soon as I can after topping.

It's just very frustrating to watch yourself torture your plants over and over again. I am almost to the point where I will be using nothing but potting soil and water for the entire grow.

relaxed ... i hear ya loud and clear. i am only on my third grow . my plants are talking to me, but i have no idea what they are saying . like you, i have been thinking of using nothing but soil and water ... seems that feeding does me more harm than good . it's a great hobby though . i'm sure i (we) will get the hang of it eventually .

Yeah. Maybe I should buy some local plants that speak english. These foreign ladies can be frustrating as hell.

The weird thing is that I do well with everything else I grow (my grow room is multipurpose).

I agree with sensirocker
Also if I may askwhat size pot are you usinng?

I would give them a good flush, I would double the capcity of the pot and let it run out.

But it dose not look to far gone. Please keep us updated and Good Luck

Ah. That pic was from my last grow but is similar to all my other grows. I always use 1 gallon pots and am trying to keep the plants small. Currently I have a dozen White Widow seeds germinating.

most people burn their plants during veg when the plants are smaller, over 5 years of experience and I just did it myself because I forgot to follow 1 simple rule.No fox farm or pure blend pro until they are at least 8 inches tall.I find it really hard to burn plants with 5-1-1 fish emulsion, although it can be done.I use only fish emulsion until they get a little height and age, then I switch to grow big.

alright relaxed, it sounds like all of those environmental variables are in check. Using one nute every other watering should have a very positive impact on your plants.
In regards to the pure blend pro, yes, i do use it as labeled on the bottle. And i agree with ballastman's post, except you can start feeding your clones/seedlings when they reach 6" tall IMO, or 3 solid nodes.

good luck,

sr
