Apparently they have ulta high uv-b output similar to a desert environment. Anyone ever use this bulb? I figure why get 2 bulbs that put out less uv-b when you can one of these....

Check the UVB Bulbs thread in this same forum.

Do a search for UVB also. Lotta people have dumped some really great information here about those and other UVB lamps.

yah, I did a search. I've come to the conclusion to run them. I'm going to use a shop light with 2 40 watt ones per two hoods.

if youre running flouro tubes, look into overdriving the bulbs. This is where you basicly run 2 bulbs off of a 4 bulb ballast so that the 2 bulbs get the energy of 4. They may not put out twice the light but there is a huge difference on how much light is given off. Just an idea I thought Id throw out there... Peace.

I have to disagree respectfully. Over-driving tubes can be a fire hazard, and drives the usable life of the tube WAY down. The lumen degradation is much more severe too. Just not worth it. Put in double the amount of tubes if you must, but I don't recommend over-driving at all. If over-driving were safe, they'd come that way from the factory with a nice "UL Listed" stamped on them.
