I couldn't find many decent reviews of these strains, so this will be my first smoke report. I'm reviewing these two together because I smoked them together for 2 weeks and the experience intensified the differences between them. Hope you enjoy.
Strain: Blue Dream Wreck (name says it all)
Smell: light, very fruity skunky with a bit of spice
Appearance: dense, dark green, orange hairs, dry
Taste: coming in, exactly like it smells, light yet complicated taste. the aftertaste is soapy.
Method: pipe, 2-4 hits, usually in the morning with coffee and music
Effect: Hits immediately, taking you to that blue dreamy place, euphoric, uplifting, hazy. This high slowly intensifies over time until you really start to feel the wreck. But not at all sleepy. I found myself being able to engage critical thinking skills, reading a dense philosophy text for 2 hours. I love mornings, so I made this my morning smoke. Smooth edges.
Medical: For health issues requiring a mentally uplifting result with pain killing effects also, not so intense that it causes confusion or anxiety, just right. Slight appetite help.
Strain: LA Confidential (OG Kush x Afghani)
Smell: deep, kushy, fresh earthy
Appearance: sticky, medium green, dark hairs
Taste: smokey, heavy, very earthy
Method: pipe, 2-4 hits, usually in the afternoon/night with a movie or non-complicated activity (I ended up cleaning the house a lot)
Effect: Reaching into the bag of this stuff is like reaching to break off a freshly baked sugar cookie. So resinous, my fingers always came out sticky. This smoke is 100% chill. It always makes me giddy for a few minutes to start, then it lays me down to relax. This became my afternoon and night smoke. The body stone grabs you immediately, then comes a light cloudy euphoric lingering through the whole experience. As time goes on the stone becomes lazier. Very smooth edges, smoking this at night left me feeling awesome in the morning.
Medical: Decent pain killer, helps nausea, eases nervousness/anxiety, made me very hungry.
This is what I love about cannabis, the unique character of every bud/smoke. Each one sticks to its genetics yet with variances due to growth, curing, etc. The effect of these two strains is so consistent with their smell and appearance. The Blue Dream Wreck was a light, floaty experience from bag to ashes. LA Confidential is a medium-heavy stoney indica and so was deeper and heavier in all aspects. It became my favorite cause I felt the experience was more well-rounded. Both are great, though I'll probably only get LA Confidential again.
