repairing pond liner?

Y

Somehow the pond liner I installed for my over sized rez has some gashes in it. Looks like someone in the store got over zealous with the razor and made some cuts in it. They are straight cuts and need to be sealed. Whats the best thing to seal these gashes with? Its already installed and I hate to rip it out which will be a PITA.

I was thinking of using marine 5200 or GOOP. Any other ideas? I have a torch and could possibly melt it back together but that just seems like a nomination for a stupidity award. I need a sealer that will be flexible and withstand being under the water line full time and not be toxic.

Go to your local pool store - tell them you have an above ground pool with a tear in the liner... they sell patch kits that are perfect for this kinda thing.

You can also go to the bike store in your area, and try a patch kit for tires.

Ya know what, the more I think about it the more I am leaning to what I would personally do if my rez had a ripped liner.... replace it with a new one. I have had too many evenings where I walked into the flower room only to discover water on the floor from a leak. NOT fun. So I'm not sure how comfy I would be with just patching up holes in the one thing that holds ALL my water. Your call....

Normally I would agree with the above posts, if it had large hole or something. But the patch kit should be fine (I think the orange or blue box might have them as well- and possible a pet store) for a few small gashes but it all depends on how big they are, if they are larger than say 6 inches, I would get new ones.

the gashes are about an inch or 2 long and theres 2-3. I have some extra liner. I may just redo it. The rez is a custom built box under an ebb and flow table. Right now the top of the table is off for easy access. But if it leaks again in mid operation when the table is full of plants, that will suck big time.

Uggh, I am going to redo it. Its a 125 gallon rez and I dont want it all over my basement

Thanks for pushing me in the right direction

For the 50 bucks it cost, I just put a new liner in. The table is 4 feet by 11 feet with a 100 gallon rez. 80% of the rez sits under the table. Its actually framed in plywood and is part of the table so it cant be pulled out. ABout 12" sticks out so i can access the pump, add nutes, etc. If i had to change that liner once i put the plywood back on the table and put plants in, i would be screwed .

Last flood cost me a year of my freedom.

The SOB problem was when I went to get more liner to line my other tables and 2 more res'es the depot was out with none on order.summa a bitch. Now I dont know where to get more liner.
