O.K.

I found this item at wal-fart during christmas time, to hook up to your christmas lights outside. It handles a lot of watts and is waterproof. I have it hooked up to my growroom and with the push of a button, complete blackout of the growroom. Remote works up to 50 ft. Great item for security, and only $20

I am no scientist or anything but I think what you are saying is:

Infra Red or Radio Fequency ???

A remote control to the TV is IR correct? It must have a line of sight, or meaning you have to point it at the TV for it to work, right?

RF will work in the other room or through walls, correct?

My remote will work out in the backyard, and even down the street! So it must be RF? I guess.

Anything else? I can get a pic of the outlet, looks like a little tiny surge protector, male and female ends.

you are correct, ir = infra red (line of sight), rf= radio frequency (through walls)

primo I was hoping they went rf with it, thanks for the 411

Don't buy one of those cheap remote controls. Stray RF signals may interfere or activate the receiver unit with the relay. Spend a few more $$$$ and buy one that uses Rolling Code or Spread Spectrum RF. No chance of any interference from another keyfob or remote.
