Remembering Your 1st Grow/Pot Plant

My first successful grow was in an old 3 foot bookcase. I still have it. My 1st grow only ended up as one plant back in 2004. With the container it was just under 3 feet tall. I remember bragging to my friends that I had this pot plant flowering in my room.

The plant was harvested too early. The main cola was over 50% of the entire plant, but I don't recall the powdery white crystal that I get on every plant that gets grown out. It didn't smoke well and of the 2 ounces or so, I don't remember getting even a buzz.

I remember the excitement when the plant started flowering. I was like Thrilled. My current grow, which is in it's infancy is a popular strain that was purchased. Once again I have that excitement of seeing seedling of some REAL weed.

i rember my first grow ever i never told any one but when i smoked the early flowers with freinds they all wanted to know who i got it from so they didnt get screwed!!
it was the worst nastest tasting stuff ever. well here i an 11 years later growing some of the best pot strains known to man. now they all want me to hook them up with my dealer little do they know there not smoking some killer commercial but home grown

2000, i got way into OG. just read about weed all winter long. ordered some kc brains leda uno and nirvana bubblegum. they made it 5 or 6 weeks into flower before they had to get pulled. the leda smelled like lemons. the bubblegum smelled real fruity.

i was out looking at them one day when i heard a noise, turns out it was a neighbor that was walking in the woods. we had a short conversation and he somehow didnt notice the 4ft tall plants next to me. i still got freaked out and pulled them.

My first grow was in 2004/05. I first started a few seeds that I had found in a special small bag of my brothers that I knew were good seeds.I planted them in soil,and later transfered to a DWC container.I found overgrow on the internet and my growing began.I had two plants in a one gallon container and soon the roots starting to become clusterfucked.It was a hard task to seperated those two plants from that small ass container and I remember them being stunted for a while after I did seperate them.Once I put them in there own container they started getting huge.I had 1 male and 1 female.They were 3 feet tall when they finally showed sex and I trashed the male and started flowering the female.I was only using a 150 watt light and this plant was around 5 feet now with branches two feet long with sweet smelling but skimpy ass foxtailing nugs.I would later find out this was a sativa and was probably best to grow this outside.The tops of this plant looked like they could of made 2 liter size nugs but the puny 150 watt light couldnt support a 5 ft tall sativa.In the end(13 weeks or longer) I got like 6 or 7 ounces of immature and not so good of buds.I later ordered a pack of nirvanas ak48 and bubblicious and dutchpassions white widow and actually grew some good bud.Peace

My first grow..
resulted in a 4.5 foot tall plant with 22 total grams of not completely dried bud (too impatient at the time).
thought it was good bud at the time, but now i realized it pretty much sucked. But hey man i was younger, with less of a tolerance. and it got me high. so im not complaining

and this is what i had going for me on my second grow.

2 plants about 2.5 feet tall gave me a total of 37 grams,fully dried high mids.. some even thought it was some "straight homegrown headies"


this is only one of the plants right before i chopped it down


and this is all the bud on harvest day from both plants







and a 3rd grow will begin as soon as i can find some good seeds.

o yea i forgot to mention all this took place in my closet without my parents having the slightest clue.

The experience of my first grow was like a full-on narcotic hit. The start of an intense obsession with these amazing plants and the beginning of a full-scale addiction to growing them. I really had no idea growing and being self-sufficient would be so addictive.

Oh but for a legal place to grow them.....

Columbian bag seed, 1974, really poorly planted for a couple farm kids, harvested one small plant, male, tasted like, and was so named - squirrel farts.

In the late 70´s I had some bag seed. I planted it outside and it was pollinated by every hemp plant west of the Mississippi. LOL! It was OK.

Took the same bag seed and grew it under floros. Sweet tasting but very fluffy and kind of harsh but it was all it took to hook me.

I have never stopped growing or learning in the years since. Even when I am not growing I am planning my next or working on a new soil mix in preparation for the next grow.

my love & i got started when we got a 1000w MH from an aquaintance. he'd tried using it in an entry closet... w/no room & 1 sad crispy plant he gave up. i'd kept oodles of killer bagseed out of cali so we started a few. only one was female. she was huge & tasted like watermelon, yummy. pics... were not thought of back then. hell, dont think of 'em now. lol, maybe cause cant post 'em usin this toy.

My first grow : was back in ... mhhhh ... 1989 I guess. I was 20 then. Grew from a bagseed. Went to a scientific library to study a few books about MJ, learned a few things except the flower/trichome cycle (books were rather scientific than DIY Grow).
I had maybe 6 or 7 plants on my balcony : Male, Female (I didn't know the difference was important).
I was smoking the leaves everyday (that year too, I had many friends visiting me everyday : never had so many friends, lol...), smoke was harsh as hell but did its effect.
But I definitely smoked too much that year (f***d up my first year in Law school).

Smoke was harsh and poor, genetics were probably not that good but well : good memories !

My first grow was in '99 with DPs Mazar. Had a big closet and a 400w so I decided to give it a try even though I knew next to nothing about growing. I bought some expensive ebb-n-flow table and some nutes and started with just basic knowledge and a marijuana growers guide.
Started a 10 pack of Mazar and 8 survived--3 males, 5 females. Suprisingly, I did pretty well with the plants and they all survived and produced the best bud I had ever smoked at the time. There was a hermie but very little seeded bud and I pulled about 3 ozs from the 5 plants.
And so began my life-long love with marijuana cultivation. In fact, I like growing nearly as much as smoking the buds.

1st sucessfull grow in 2003. some bagseeds growin' outside in the hotest year till now. they were the bigest plants I had till today, about 3m+ height, yield was very good, potency was ok and taste was ok,so very good 1st harvest. I was happy then. before 2003 I also grew but never harvested anything.

Outdoors lowryder, summer '06. Where it went to hell was; I had no oppoturnities to pre-grow them which is why a lot of seeds went wasted, because I hurried out to get them into the not-so-well prepared soil, and it was a damned cold June over here. Out of probably 70 seeds I got 3 (!!!) full grown females and probably 1/4 oz. of bud. It was a spectacularly dry summer which translated to a lot of trouble to keep the plants alive... not to mention I couldn't resist the urge to run far to the woods every day to check them... but I got something and my first own bud. Looking back at it I could have done so much better, but in the beginning we're clueless newbies.
