Religious propaganda...

As I am sitting in front of the computer listening in to the rainfal, I hear some shouting from the outside. Get up and see this bunch of christians spreading some lame pamphlets. I politely tell them that I don't want whatever it is they are giving, they give me this look like im insane or something and they proceed to stick their hand through my gate and start waiving this paper. Again I repeat to no avail, now they started shouting that the paper was getting wet that "this is important information.". Im getting pissed and so is my rottweiler who sits next to me barking like a lunatic.

As I turn to walk away, I hear this people fumbling with my mailbox and shouting that "my mail is all wet". For a second the thought of opening the gate and sending the dog on them passes through my mind but reason gets the better of me.. This time at least.

Now don't you all HATE this bullshit? I mean its fine if they want to do their thing in their own church, I have no problem with this, but isn't it rude to be trying to impose their shit onto others like its an obligation for everyone to follow their beliefs?

Hell you don't see me going door to door with Darwin's On The Origin of Species? I bet if some peoplewould go on spreading copies of Darwin's book all hell would break loose and Christians would start parading over City Hall protesting.

Opinions?

I try not to take sides in religious VS. scientific arguments but I will say that they should have thanked you for your time and moved on after the initial "No". After that it is essentially harrassment even if it's not exactly threatening and personally; opening my mail box after you've been told to leave could get you hurt.

P.S. I like your sig. kinda ambiguous; Does it mean the administration never stops thinking of ways to harm our country, and our people as well

You mean like the protests that broke out when schoolteachers tried to teach the next generation of bleating sheep evolution in class?

At that point you should have took the pamphlet - so you could get the name of the Church they were representing. Then called the police, that some hoodlums were harassing you and had tampered with your mailbox. Then call the Local Postal Inspector and reported the church, that they had got into your mailbox and tampered with your mail - federal crime. Then filed a civil suit against the Church for sending hoodlums to harass you, violating your Constitutional right to religious freedom without persecution.

Last week I had a simular run in with the local bible-thumpers. One was going door to door, passing out leaflets. Came to my door - door was open, screen door was shut. I spoke to them through the screen door and said, "no thank you." They started to turn away and I did as well. I was busy sanding cabinets I was refinishing - was a little busy. Suddenly, I hear my screen door open. One of them opened my screen door and tossed in a couple of the leaflets anyways. This suddenly made me turn red. As I see it, you opened my door after you were told to go away.

I called the police and reported some kids that were going door to door, guised as a church group, checking doors, possibly looking to burgalize them. In sum, prowling. And that I know this for sure, as they had checked and opened my door. The Police came and ran them off. I then called their Church - as I now had a leaflet they had tossed into my house that told me what Church they belonged to - and complained, threatening a public civil suit.

It's one thing to go to door to door and offer the leaflet - it's another to forcefully give it, especially when it was politely declined (yes, I was polite the whole time - I learned a long time ago to use honey in dealing with the public).

I personally am tired of some group showing up at my door once or twice a month - all year long. If I wanted to go to their church, I would find them. You cannot be in the Western World and have NOT heard about Jesus. No offense to any missionaries, but we know about Jesus - everyone does. You're welcome to offer church services, but not by force. This isn't the Inquisition. Last month, I had some lady toss a pamphlet into my shopping cart when I was at the Grocery Store. This is getting rediculas and actually starting to make me hostile towards these people.

I always get rid of people like by telling them I worship Satan( I don't, I'm an atheist,) and that I'm the Antichrist, they don't take kindly to it. Some of them are just so fucking stubborn that you have to be a prick to get rid of them. I've figured out that most Christians I've meet, are hypocrites...

Jehova's steer clear of my house, last time they stopped by and fumbled around my porch my mom's dog got the SOB. He was told to leave, after she had turned her back and continued with her business he decided to try again only to be grabbed by the ass from the dog and taken back to the end of the driveway.

No means No and it means everyone!

Well of course they didn't go away when you asked them! Don't you know that organized religion is no more then a hungry bureacrocy trying to recruit as many followers as possible just to suck money from them!?

Its what americans call a "Bushism" which is a pretty way to say that he is mentally retarted but since he is the president we need to make a cute name to try and hide the fact that he is just plain stupid.

I remember 1 day when a couple of Mormon 10-speeds came rolling up my rural, dirt driveway. They went out of their way riding out there to save my soul, but the forgot all about me once they realized my 2 pitbull were not on chains. hehe They spun those bikes around with a quickness! I swear they were kicking up sand roostertails trying to git. All the while each dog was working over a furiously peddeling leg. HAHA Wrong driveway guys! Where was the Lord in your time of need? haha I just kept peeking out the window--wasn't about to stop it unless it got carried away. My dogs came back once they escorted them to the end of my 1/4 mile driveway. hahahahhaa

PS-they never came back.

18 and Doh!
Yea Christians can definitely be really annoying and im saying that as a practicing catholic. Alot of us (not me) have holier than thou attitudes and dislike people who have different beliefs. If i had to generalize i would say i hate christians and im a christian myself! (well catholic)

Christians are duty bound by their religion to convert non believers. The bible tells them to. Persistant aren't they. I don't care for the Jehovah Witnesses, but respect the fact that they are more than willing to be cussed at, threatened, and disrespected for doing what they believe.

Wonder how it would be if we were this persistant in our beliefs to go door to door to "convert" non believers to legalize marijuana? Problem is, we won't do it.

In an ideal world it would be great to do something like that, but in this grim reality we live square people will not be able to handle something like that, and the rain of complaints down city hall/police hq would get them to a point that they will start investigating everyone involved in such a movement, raids would be organized and people would start getting arrested at a fast rate just to silence the movement.

Doing something like that with cannabis would bring more harm than good IMO to the people involved in it.

While I don't condone pestering religious zealots spreading their sickness, I also don't condone dog owners using their dogs as tools of violence.

And I don't condone trespassers....either do my dogs. :bat: It has nothing to do with using dogs for violence. I live deep in the woods. If someone strolls upon my domain, ignores all the posts at the front gate, and procede anyway they get what they get. :pointlaug

I'm totally anti-religion. Only religion I respect is buddhism but I think all religion should be destroyed, only way to free the people.

too bad religion will never be destroyed, people will stick with their religions and kill and die for it. I don't even think a nuclear war will end religion unless all the religious people are dead. Especially in hard times and in poverty people stick to religion because that's all they have left, it's like some kind of security blanket filled with lies and hate.

All religions do is separate people and create hate and wars.

Thats an actual quote. he actually said that.

I dont care for religious types. Sometimes my good nature gets the best of me, ive let on where i live a time or 2 to a jehovah. I dont believe in god and i would be happy if no one else did either cuz we have bigger fish to fry than some imaginary white guy living in the clouds. But i dont have it in my heart to be rude. So when they come to my house i just ignore the doorbell till they go away.

I agree with you somewhat on how destructive religion can be, Yummy. I would hafta exclude the Spirituaity of the American natives. They worshipped Mother Earth and all her elements which wouldn't be too bad a thing. I'm not too sure if the tribes fought with each other over religion or not...prolly mostly over land, food and pooty-tang.
