relays 2x2

A pic is worth a bunch of words. This is what I got so far:

This is what I think I want:
relays2.jpg

I have 2 of almost everything, 120v input circuits, 2 little relays, 2 big contactors, and 2 big loads. I don't have 2 heads to look this over.

The little relays are switching a 120v ac line with a 5v dc signal. The contactors use that 120v on its coil to let the large amps flow. Is there a problem with one of the 120v circuits powering both coils as my sketch shows? Or should each contactor's coil be powered by its main line? Or should each contactor's coil be powered by the other circuit for some reason? Please don't tell me I need a 3rd circuit to power the coils.

First, you really need to get some strain-relief connectors on the cords where they pass through the box walls.

The way that you have the circuit shown will work fine, but you might want to change it so that each contactor control circuit is powered by the breaker feeding the contactor load so that you won't have to dump the whole world if you want to work on either circuit. That arrangement might also help if you want to build up a circuit to remotely indicate that the circuits are powered up properly. It all depends on what you want to do.

Thanks.

Doesn't tying the cord in knots count as strain relief? I'll see what I can find.

Good point on not crashing my whole world.

And thanks for not commenting on my sketch. :)
