ReikoX's got the Strawberry Blues

After a long affair with Juanita, I think it's time for a break. Like breaking up with most girls, now I got the Strawberry Blues.

These girls were clones I got on a trip to Denver. We got Strawberry Blue, Agent Orange, and Tahoe OG. My brother took them home and took care of them until I could get some clones.

My rebound girl is short and chunky, she didn't stretch much and came down pretty early at 8 weeks.

I'm using the my storage cabinet. The specs for reference:

Flower Chamber:
20"D x 36"W x 48H
2 x 180w (110 draw) Blackstar Chrome LEDs
4" inline fan with carbon filter.

Vegetive Chamber:
20"D x 24"W x 20"D
4 bulb 2 foot T5HO
Shares exhaust with flower chamber

The containers are 5 gallon smart pots that I didn't even till, just cut out the main stalk and plopped the clones in from the beer cups.

The nutrients will be Bio Canna line (Vega, Flores, Boost, and Rhizotonic) according to their schedule.

This is my fifth grow in this setup. My build and first grow was Super Lemon Haze bagseed. My second grow was also bagseed. My third and fourth grow was Juanita la Lagrimosa (AKA my crazy ex-girlfriend).

The strain will be Strawberry Blue. Here is the breeders description:

This strain is a cross between two genetics whose taste and aroma alone make them top choices for many growers. A selected specimen from the spectacularly tasting Blue family crossed with the fruity Strawberry resulted in a mainly sativa strain but with a short flowering cycle. She produces long branches, making her ideal for SCROG or SOG systems although care is required in SOG systems to control the height.

Here's a closeup of both girls. They are currently under 18/6 lighting. Once they hit the screen the real fun begins.

I got a pair of sunglasses to correct for the purple LEDS. I'm quite impressed. This photo was my attempt to show the difference. The girl on the right has a little bit of burning on the tips. New growth is looking good and she is almost to the screen. The girl on the left is a tad smaller, but didn't get as burnt. Next feeding will be tap water with a little B1.

Can I watch you train your new girl? Subbed.
I like your style. I also like to mulch with stones, although I prefer mine to be about marble size, easier to collect for re-using and not as easy to mixed in with the medium. Is there a reason your using smaller vs a little larger?

Of course you can watch. At the rate she grows, it will take a while. I've seen this girl veg under a 600w MH and she is short and bushy.
:watchplant:

What you see as my mulch layer is NAPA floor dry. It is granulated diatomaceous earth. I started using it when I had a fungus gnat problem. It's cheap, like $8 a bag. I've only used about 1/2 the bag. I've used the marble sized clay pellets before, but they roll all over the place.

Nice Reiko! This looks like a good show to come! :) Pulling the popcorn and rolling it upp! :D

Welcome buddy, already got the popcorn on and rolled a fatty of this Cobbed Juanita!
:lurk: :smoke out:

That napa floor dry seems an interesting source of diatomaceous earth, fungas gnats ruined a previous grow attempt, didn't know what to do,had sticky flypaper ribbons everywhere by the end.. I got some Desert sand this time to put on top hoping that will keep them dead. If it doesn't work i'll have to try that.

In the end switching soil fixed the fungus gnat issue. Neem oil and SM-90 also were used. Haven't had the issue since I shut down the PC and got rid of that cheap soil.

Oh that is much different and way awesome. I will definitely retain that lil tid bit because I'm sure as day I'll run into those little buggers again. I knew about DE but only the powder. That granular stuff looks easy peasy Broham. Very cool.
I usually use 1/2" size sand pebbles very cheap doesn't roll around, nice weight to them.

The best part is as it gets dry it goes from dark brown to white. It's a visual way to tell how moist the soil is. It lets the roots grow up to the top if the soil. If you pour off all of it after harvest there are a ton of roots on the surface. I'm pretty sure props goes to Avanish.miles' thread, Round Infinity, where I learned about it.

Some boring veg shots for you. I'm in love with these sunglasses, it makes it so much easier to work on the plants. I took the lower three branches from each and a few fan leaves. I cloned the lower branches I took.

Left side is a tad short, but overall is healthier.

The right side is taller, and the screen is crooked. She had some nutrient burn so they got:
4 ml/gal B1
Tap water.

Looking neat there Reikox, hey say what is that there coming out of wall of the cabinet between the pots? Some kind of air purifier for an intake fan? And in front of it is that your cell phone for size comparison or? I love how neat your cab looks and that you have conduit and a outlet box in there. So pro looking. ^ ^

That's an oscillating fan between the pots. What looks like my cell phone is a thermometer, but it's the same size and shape so that works too. Not much more to see, they are taking their sweet time.

Nothing boring about your ladies on the side putting on some growth, man. Looking good, and very clean!

They are finally getting big enough to start tucking under the screen. I will most likely take some lower branches for clones later this week and prune some fan leaves. They also are looking hungry so I fed them:
10 ml / gal Bio Vega
8 ml / gal Rhizotonic
5 ml / gal SM-90

Nice, it looks like it's an active intake? Or is just circulating the air? Can't wait to see that screen full.
