i have seen more than one person say that they had some of their finest herb from a runt that they grew out . i am fairly new at growing, and have only had one runt, which i grew to harvest. the smoke from that plant was no different than it's sisters.

i would assume that outstanding runts are the exception, rather than the rule.
would this be correct ? any comments on the subject of runts ?

Cannabis is highly, highly susceptible to root rot. If you got a runt, check the roots......

Me too, I'll wait for the soil to dry, yank it out and see what the bottom looks like. It's about a 3rd smaller then the others, very healthy looking though.

Runts arent half as cool as the magic spiders that follow them around.

Some runts wind up doing musicals with Judy Garland and get married 8 times.

The only experience I had with a runt what exactly as you described. It was female seeds white widow and my other WW pheno's where in flower 40 days before I put it to 12/12.It was much much stronger, noticably so.I dont know if its a runt thing but I'm glad I decided to veg her out.Not a pheno I'd want for a perpetual though.

You can check the roots now if you tilt the plant and pull it out slowly..then set it back in...you can even trim the bad roots...a tad' ole trim...not a haircut

This belongs in the growers forum...not the Coffee shop Den :bashhead:

The first plant i harvested this year is a runt, i quickdryed a few buds and it is extremely potent weed, will report how this weed compares to the rest of my harvest.

Some runts are genetic, while others are the result of a very hard childhood - trouble germing, damage to cotyledons etc.
In my last grow (check my signature) I had a serious runt - much smaller than the others - but it came back and in flower it really shined, giving me the frostiest buds with the best smell of all of my phenos.
I'm flowering clones of all of my phenos again since I won't be picking the mother yet before I've tasted the wellcured bud of all of my phenos.
I'm not saying runts could be expected to be better than the rest of the crop, but if you have the space then by all means give it a chance - you want as many phenos as possible to pick a mother from.

If I have room I keep the runts... see in around a month I'll be pulling my first harvest. I got 5 plants in veg waiting to switch places with my flowering plant and one of those 5 is a runt... if it turns out to be a female I'll be keeping her.

i think its important to remember that vegetative growth and vertical growth have little or nothing to do with flower production or quality. they are controlled by different genes. how do i know? because i've grown plants that are great bud producers are runts and ones that are great producers and giants, then some that are crappy bud producers that are huge and some that are small. the lesson.

don't judge a plants genetics or worth until you've smoked the final CURED product. i cant stress cured enough because some plants absolutely suck without a good cure (high is crap no flavor). i just sampled some recently harvest bud about 2 weeks back it barely gave me a buzz and smelled like grass clippings. that same bud now smells of berries and gets you twisted.

Oh.....and how many of YOUR plants have suffered root rot? Who told you this, you sure as hell didn't come up with this gem on your own.....

Don't blame the plant, blame the (non)grower.
