Regarding localized or partial plant pollination...

I read somewhere that you could pollinate in localized manner by wrapping a plastic ziploc bag around a male flower collecting its pollen and then sort of dipping a female flowering stem inside the bag and shaking it. Is this true? If so, how early/late into flowering does the female need to be? Would this affect the yield/quality of the rest of the buds? I've got this johnny blaze x chemdawg already in its third week of flowering and I've also got a what is supposed to be a mozambiquen poison which is soon to start showing pistils. This morning upon further inspection of my plants in veg I've id'd at about four males (2 highland oxacan and 2 jb x cd) which are barely starting to show the crab claws.I am growing them outdoors but my veg area has supplemental lighting in order to provide 18/6, so I can delay flowering or I can move them out to ~12/12.Any suggestions on how I should approach this if I were to make the most of the situation? Ideally I would like to be able to have some smoke and produce some seed.

I have done up to 9 separate pollinations on a plant.it was a huge sk#1..yeehaw... you can pollinate the area as soon as there is enough to pollinate and give ya some seeds... it wont affect the rest of plant much ...pollinate some lower branches then you can always harvest the tops and let seeds ripen more if needed...

I collect pollen on a plate then put it in a small zip lock & store in the refrigerator. I then use a Q-tip to lightly dust the stigmas on lower branches (2-3wks in flower) followed by spraying down with water after 15-30 minutes.

Thank you both…let me rephrase part of my question. After what week or particular physiological stage should I avoid attempting to pollinate a flowering plant.Im assuming by your answers that once I see plenty of white stigmas pop up she's ready. But there is no pollen sacks on the males still. I am going to put them on 12/12 today to see how soon they develop. Maybe if the pollen sacks are ready after the jb X cd is past her prime I can just wait for the mp to start showing stigmas. The mp is a 12 week so even though they were put to 12/12 at the same time she hasn't shown any yet.

You want at least 5 weeks for viable seeds to develop. Pollen can be applied at any time as long as you have 5 weeks left for proper seed development.

pollinating lower branches allows you to harvest most and allow seeds to mature as long as possible...atleast 4 weeks or more to have decent seeds...yeehaw... I did do a run that didn't last as long as I wanted and seeds never got dark .. well they still sprouted fine but it wasn't optimal..
