So are cool tubes still the way to go as far as air-cooled reflectors go? I'm still in the dark ages stuck using the 4' white cone reflectors and was looking to upgrade here pretty soon.
Hydrotek Silverstars are my favorites....6" ducted and an awesome reflector for higher wattage bulbs. If you're going with something smaller than a 600w, check out the Daystar ACs...also 6" ducted, but a narrower light pattern. There's a few 8" ducted ones out there, but I haven't messed with any of em....yet.
DEFINATLEY consider daystar original and daystar AC, those are excellent reflectors. Some other good aircoolable reflectors include econocool, SuperSun original and SuperSun2.
The cool tube can be the most effective way to cool and light.. depending on your set up. Will your plants be surrounding your light or will the plants only be beneath the light?
The plants will be below the light. So the cool tubes are more for vertical applications? Footprint of about 5x5 is what I'm looking for, a little smaller than that would be okay too.
I've read that the cone reflectors I'm using right now are basically 30% less effective than the horizontal reflectors on the market now. I'm intrested to see how much my yield and growth change after switching out reflectors.
