Personally I'd rather spend that $60 on upgrading the fan or other cooling equipment.

I agree it's probably not worth $60 especially if you expect it to seriously reduce heat.

If someone is into the deluded idea that it helpfully blocks infrared or if you are worried about the noise emanating from the flowing air, it might be worth it.

When you have decent airflow on a good air-cooled hood, it seems like they rarely even get hot to the touch so I'm not sure how much this would really reduce heat in the grow space. The biggest problem that remains after you air cool your hoods seems to be the radiant heat coming from the glass shield part of the hood that you obviously cannot insulate with this product.

Like LlamaSchool eluded to, those covers increase the heat coming from the underside (glass) of the reflector.
Right onto your plants.
You would then have to increase your ventilation to compensate.

worth it for me, i am growing in a tent. I've got a 6" fan comming from outside through ducting to a fan and then to the reflector and out the side of the tent. I can literally put my hand on the glass and it doesn't get too hot to the touch.

For shits and giggles I unplugged the ducting to one side of the reflector and temps IMMEDIATELY shot up 6-10 degrees!!!

It cost me about $50 extra and was well worth it!

Well of course it will get hotter if you unhook your ducting.
What does that have to do with the aforementioned product?

Just go to your local hardware store and buy a roll of Reflectix and put 2 layers on your hood(s), top and sides, using aluminum duct tape to affix the stuff...that'll be waaaay less than $50. Yeah you will get more radiated heat through the glass though. Using the blankets alone should lower room temps. They are only part of the puzzle but that metal hood is a big source of radiated heat. Are you using insulated ducting where possible?

No worries on the fan upgrades or cooling. I'm sorry that I stressed so much on it helping cool the box. I was stoned and didn't articulate my intentions with the product from the beginning as well as I should have. I have 600 cfm altogether pushing the air out of the box. And a 6500 btu air conditioner helping the air coming in through four, two inch light trapped passive intakes(Temp issue solved). My main concern for the item was it's claim on noise reduction from the wooshing hood. With the fast moving airflow going to be going through the box and through the hood I was looking for that little extra help. Even with a muffler on the outake the box will make a fair amount of noise and I was basicly trying to get feed back if this would trim the fat off the noise or was a big waste of my coin.

Either way, it's irrelavent for now... I chose to wait for now. Most likely though I'll end up making some sort of DIY "muffler" for noise reduction from the hood.

And so here I find myself once again overly stoned and this time rather than under communicate, I'm over communicating the issue that is really no longer an issue... Well at least not to me anyway. So thanks guys for a discussion review and your input.
