Reducing supplemental light to maintain vegetative growth

Been a silent participant of icmag for a while, but couldn't find an exact answer to this question by searching the forums. Growing outdoor in northern Cali, running Allen Wrench, Blue Dream and Sour Diesel. All plants went out in late May, all very vigorous and in prime health. Grown indoors under 18/6, plants were moved outside and given supplemental light a bit over 18/6 now outdoors (around 19/5). I'm wanting to ween them off the lights without potential for early flowering.

What is the best way to alter the supplemental light cycle to ease off lights to the natural cycle? On the solstice in 3 weeks natural light will be a bit over 16 hrs light. I'm afraid slowly easing down to 16 from 19 will trigger early flowering, even at the solstice. Better to drop from 19/5 to 16/8 all of a sudden?

Any experience with this?
