hey, a buddy of mine has a few plants... durban poison from gypsy nirvana
and skunk #1. vegged for 6 weeks under 400w then 1000w MH, keeping up
with the Fox Farm feeding schedule. LST on both DP's and are in 3 gal pots.
on the newer growth on the tops, the stems have a little red in them and are
flimsy as well as some red viens on the undersides of SOME leaves... anyone
know whats up??

usually means phosphorus deficient but im going through kinda the same thing and im feeding bloom nutes to my veggers and im thinking its a temp issue im my case...can temps affect nute uptake?

i find that cool temps especially during lights off will give some plants that red/purple look. Especially is true i find on my outdoor plants.

STAY HIGH!!!
PEACE!!

my buddy's temps have been all over the place. during the last 2 weeks of veg, he threw in the 1kW which brought the temps to 85 then 90 on warmer days. and now that hes on 12/12, temps while the lights are off drop to 68ish

Have you ever ran this strain before? Some times its just the strain and lower temperature will cause a problem with the uptake of phosphorous but not 68 .. does it occur uniformily .. maybe try a foliar spray and see if that helps at all

SWIM has never ran these stains before, no. it is uniform tho. the stems and green but with red stripes going through them :fsu:

Every pot plant I've ever grown has had red/purple stems during flowering. I don;t know the cause, but this past grow I noticed it for the 1st time late in flowering. I think it might be caused by the side branches. Branches from the nodes may cause stress to the fan leaves. But in all honestly, I don't know the true cause of purpling stems.

It's an unavoidable trait of most Durban Skunk phenotypes. EarlyDurban, DurbanSkunk#1 (and yes, nirvanas dp is a durban+skunk as well.)

The 3 commonly occuring abnormalities I've seen for the Durban Skunk:
-Very slow veg growth, -and I mean VERY slow! It almost seems stuck in time
-Mutations, -it can do all sorts of weird looking shit, similar to blueberry
-Reddening of the petioles -

Those traits are all common for this strain. I wouldn't worry too much, as trying too hard to remedy them might do more harm than good. Mind you, my experience is with FDM EarlyDurban & Seedsman DurbanSkunk (same), however, I've seen the redstems/slowveg/mutations everywhere on Durban grows from various seedbanks. I just read 2 consecutive Durban grow reports the other day, and both growers were fighting the red stems. That makes you the 3rd person this week, 4th including my experiences.. Yes, it's that common.
-I'll try to dig em up and I'll post back if I find em.

I thought it was pretty normal for stems to get a little color sometimes. Mostly it is because of a bit of stress, it happens a lot in the beginning of flowering I've noticed. Or it can be just genetic.
