Red Ants

A couple of the lower branches broke off due to some kind of disease and the red ants just can't stay away. Is this a problem? Sign of rot?

EDIT: Just went out there and it seems clear that it is rot. Anything I can do?

Make a paste with Borax, water and sugar, they will take that gel paste back to their queen which will wipe out their colony, and that is what you are looking for!

Thanks, but I took a second look a few minutes ago and it seems more like a rot problem. There's always been red ants back there and they've never bother my plants.

Sorry it's stalk rot ....read Mad Farmer's Hydrogen Peroxide is what some use. Higher concentration, but maybe continual use of plain ol' hydrogen peroxide might do the trick. Good luck!

I'd smear neosporin or another antibacterial inside and over the hole. The only way ants can cause damage to cannabis plants is aphid farming. And even so I've never seen it develop into a problem.

Honestly, I'm astounded that it bounced back. I pretty much resigned myself to losing it, since at least 4 or 5 branches wilted and fell off. These Himalayan plants are tough!

On another note, I haven't noticed even a speck of powdery mildew, which has always a problem around here.

There are fire ants in my soil because they like the moisture.. they are coming out of the ground right at the stalk of all my plants..

I scratched around and found they are trying to kill the plants, by burrowing into the bark and basically girdling my plants.

I left them a little surprise..
