I was just thinking about my grow I just started and the thing is I live in a house that I rent, the houses are close together. I'm groinw by soil, but you can't reuse the soil, so how should I dispose of the soil, or is there a way for me to reuse it? please let me know thanks.

if you know your soil, how clean it is from your last grow, then hell yeah
im doing a whole grow on a used soil, its a promix ph stuff, i keep it till its all dry, then i just mix it with some worm castings ,humus or small mix of guano and is good as new, hehe,, sometimes i think it just gets better when work so much .its a dirty job, but once you get it mix nicely, it will do a great grow for you one more time.

peace

I can't find the link but 3lb wrote an excellent thread on soil re-mixing. To the best of my knowledge as long as you remove most of the dead roots either by hand or using a screen, and properly flush the soil you should be o.k. And by flush I mean run alot of water through the soil as to leach out possible salt buildups. Hope this helps, and maybe someone else has that link!! I can't remember whether it was on ic, overgrow or cannabisworld:chin:

I have reused the soil i have been using for some time. I have used the same recycled soil for about a year. I always mix in more nutes in the soil. I also found the soil isnt good for starting seeds as i think soil with no nutes works much better. The biggest key is getting all the roots out. It defintly saves $ as perlite and soil can get expensive quickly. I agree with hc it probably is better soil than what you started with.

I have been recycling the same soil for two years now... I only use organics... I don't flush the soil between uses but I do have 1/3 more soil than is in use at any given time, so it 'rests' for a few weeks... plant tone, guano, greensand, and dolomiteic lime added when the old pots are emptied, then the soil sits and waits untill use... I figure it is plenty flushed at harvest after a few weeks of water only... It works as well or better now, than when it was new...

I'm going to be doing some serious soil recycling.....it cost me 200 dollars to fill one bed....so yeah..i think i'm a fan...:)

I am at the end of my veg stage with soil that I used for 1 grow before this and the only thing I did was dry the soil out for abuot a week or so then add some castings to the top of the new pots and I have A jungle going on .I did use only organic nutes with the 1st grow and also with this one

If you know what your using and what your doing you can recycle indefinately. Some of the perlite in my mix is over ten years old. And agreed ^^ new sprouts always get new mix.

Getting rid of part of soil and replacing with compost will bring life back to the soil mix because compost is alive with micro organisms that refresh the soil. That is something that is done outdoors for gardens.

I always use fresh soil for seedlings

...but once they get 30 days old or so
I will sometimes use a re-used soil mix as my transplant medium

though I let my re-used soil sit a few months in large trash barrals...make sure all the olds roots are dried out and starting to decomposs (remove large root-balls before they go into barral)
I'll add a scope or 2 of fresh organic peat and compost manure (the cheap/rich $1 a bag stuff)...and depending on how rich the mix looks maybe a little Bone meal....mix well and serve, with my normal fish emulsion fertz

You'll have better luck skipping the peat as all peat products break down acidic in nature. Spot on advice with the few months "rest" and dry period.
