Record Keeping

In my current (and first) grow I didn't keep any records at all, no idea how long they were in veg (i can guess around 4-6 weeks, but meh ;)) or even when I flipped them to flower.. I'd like to come up with a template in Open Office (or even a web-based service) to help keep track of everything related to your plants and their operation. Something that can fit on one piece of paper, and just live on it's clipboard near the mixing station would be ideal...

The problem is being a very very new grower I am not yet certain what information is vital (beyond the obvious), and how to best present it.

I would like to have something that can fit an entire grow for a single plant/group of identical plants on a single sheet of paper, or even better a half sheet double sided (calendar on the back, notes and other things on the front).

So this is where all you successful gardeners and your decades of experience come into play... What information is required, wanted, desired, useless, etc...

Anything else I'm not thinking about?

a lil chart for ya

I just thought i'd put together a simple chart on excel for you to keep track of your grow. I wasn't sure if this was soil or hydro or what type of environment you were in, as you didn't seem to mention any of this. This chart is more tuned to a hydro setup, though the chart can be easily modified to fit a variety of growing styles.

hope that helped :joint:

Hmm i always thought about building a program that keeps records, reminds users when to feed or when to switch the light cycle, has a unit converter, etc. You know, common tools we growers can use, all packaged into one program. Maybe i'll start working on one soon... :chin:

Thanks!

I'm not so much looking for existing charts, though that helps quite a bit, I'm more looking for the types of information that would be required on a chart... I'm a programmer/web developer by trade and I have quite the idea in mind for a web application tailored to growers and grow shops... I'm just trying to get an idea of the different data points that I will need to gather :)
