Recommendation for a quality Mini-Split AC?

Hi folks,
Can you recommend a quality Mini-split AC to help cool a 4,000 watt grow? The lamps will be enclosed in Super Sun 2 air cooled hoods.

Do you think that a 12,000 btu unit will be sufficient?

Thanks,

Blaze

Would work but could run constantly. 18k would be better. Mitsubishi, Sanyo, LG, Friedrich, all good brands.

I believe the ones with Toshiba compressors are top rated. Also, the Mr.Slim ones are highly rated. Whatever brand you choose, get one that has uses an inverter. Also, make sure it comes pre-charged and complete with line set.

This is the site where i bought mine. I bought the 9000 unit. The offer free shipping. The site has a great faq section that should have the answers to any questions you may have.

if you dont care about cost Freidrich is the best, but of course they are the most expensive, and there a little harder to get.

an 18k unit would work hard to do 4 lights dependng on your setup/weather, so anywhre from 18-24k btu.

edit-i dont think a 12k btu will cut it unless it stay really cold whre u live

Man, I don't get it. I have a 1 ton cooling 3k of non-air cooled lights + dehuey and soon to be co2 gen. This is with ballasts in the room. A 3 ton should ROCK 6k.

This is what I thought as well. What are your daytime temps that your Mini won't cool your spot? Is there something wrong with the ac that you can tell?

Thanks.

Shit man this is driving me crazy I connected it myself and did have a leak in the beginning and had this guy come out but he did not have a digital scale to weight the amount of gas he put in.

What the fuck can I do?

Well, basically, your screwed :frown:. Your going to have to wait until this round is finished and then get a qualified HVAC guy out there to deal with your AC unless you want to risk bringing someone out there while a grow is in process.

Just a thought partner.

blaze i have a 24k friedrich cooling 8 600s, a co2 burner, dehumdifier, fans, etc. at the very most you will need an 18k, but a 12k will most likely be plenty. just look around at some of sealed room threads here at the mag. consider how much insulation you have (basement or garage?) and how hot it gets during you grow season. the beauty of buying an a/c with an inverter is power savings. for example, if you buy an 18k and only 15k btu is needed to cool your room, then the a/c only uses 15k worth of power. this may not matter to you, but power is expensive in most places. also if you aren't really sure of what you are doing have professional at least charge the unit for you. nothing about the install is difficult, but you need to know what you doing. or you end like hydropimp with a really expensive swamp cooler . sorry buddy, but i couldn't resist poking some fun. :joint:
