I have a future-brite 600 watt digital and a lumatek 600 watt digital and both work really well. they are only a few month old so hard to tell which one is better. doing a comparison now. the lumatek get a little warmer as it is sealed and the future brite has a fan. both are quiet and after running all day I can put my hand right on the ballast and it's just a little warm.I've had old ones where you could cook on them so i'm happy with these. the future brite also has a disconnect cord which is nice. hope i've been a lil help.good luck and I hope I win the auction on your beans.I love old school strains

I have a LumaTek from BG Hydro. Worth every penny and will be replacing my other old style ballast when I can afford it.

LumaTek has changed their name and improved the product. They are now called LumenAce and have a detachable cord. They have the best warranty of all digi ballasts, 5 years.

Cheers!

HappyHemphog, I was over at BG this morning looking at them and i can't wait to order my 4 600HPS units and 4 cooltubes. Really looking forward to these ballasts. They have the unplugable cords which are very nice and the cords are shielded for RF noise. Great units if you ask me and the warranty is very nice. Replacement the first 3 years and prorated the last 2 years. A 5 year warranty is very nice. Sorry everyone, I'm very stoked about these units and can't wait to try them. To me, let chance of fire and a big reduce in heat and noise. In my opion, you can go wrong with that. Plus, the bulbs are at full brightness in less time. Nice thread and remember to get good bulbs also. I personally use nothing less then a Gro-lux bulb. Design for plant growing from the start.
Take care all,
BG

Hey Wags, whats going on man.

Oh, people don't really understand how much heat really comes off of the old units. I'll be running a total of 6 600HPS for 2 mini 120 site coli's and a 12 site bucket system. You get that many ballast of the old units and the heat is alot. I might have to add another 2 ballast for the bucket system. for a total of 4 600HPS over the buckets for my seed crops and 4 for the coli's. Now that's alot of heat from the old style. Even if you put them on the other side of the wall of a grow room. I just love these units and can't wait to run them. I wonder if there is a problem with the Gro-lux bulbs. Never hear about the Hortilux Blue Bulb not firing. Good info
take care

Marimbas, they will beat or match any price you can find on the same product. Send them a link to where it's advertised and they will make a deal.

Personally, I don't mind spending the extra dollar with BGH because they always ship VERY discretely. The only thing visible on the outside of package is the destination address. They even will open boxes to turn them inside out before shipping.

That's a damn good question. While I doubt you would be denied because of the change, I am going to find out the answer.

Hello ballast buyers.....guineapig here,

Could y'all give me some clues as to why you chose the ballasts which you chose?
Did budget and monetary constraints guide your choice of ballast? What about the
digital ballast versus the traditional ballast- did this difference in ballast technology
influence your decisions? What about switchable ballasts- is everyone happy with
switchable ballasts as compared to non-switchable ballasts?

Maybe someone could start a great big ballast poll and then we will investigate the
Great Reflector Debate!!!!!! :dueling:

-kind regards from gp :wave::friends::wave:
