Reckless Driving(Speeding)...FFFFUUUUUUUUUU!!!!

So my dumb ass just got busted doing 28 over and now I have a court date for reckless driving. I realize that either way I'm fucked, but was wondering whether I should get a lawyer for what amounts to a super-speeding ticket with extra rape. And should I worry about a drug test whether or not I try to appeal. I plan to play the "I'm just some poor folk with a shitty job" card and the "I'll lose my delivery job and future job prospects." for some kind of sympathy to get a reduced charge. Any thoughts/advice?

Sorry this happened...Did this by chance happen in VA or NC? I can tell you, those are REAL crappy states to get caught speeding in. (>15mph in NC or >20mph in VA and they will ream you good! As in a F-ing crimminal offense! wtf?)
I got the same ticket many years ago. I made the mistake of NOT getting a lawyer. In hind sight- That was a VERY BIG MISTAKE.

I 100% suggest getting a local lawyer. With a clean driving record and a lawyer you have a chance getting it reduce to speeding. (Depends on other things like.. were you on an interstate or residential roadway? Have yo had your speedometer checked? Is the judge on the rag? lol -Your lawyer will get at all of this or perhaps be able to plea you down to speeding)
Don't be too down.. It could have been worse.

Shit. As a matter of fact, yes. It was technically residential(I think). I have one other speeding ticket from a couple years ago. Exactly how hard did you get screwed as far as fines and insurance rates go? I have a shitty car, so insurance is about $60 a month for me.

The fines were approx $200.00. (with court cost) BTW- You MUST appear for this charge. I was from out of state and, as far as I know, it never showed on my home state's DMV report. (I was lucky in that regard)
IMHO I would not worry so much about fines. Try to concentrate your efforts on getting this reduced to a speeding ticket. (you will be better off in the long run IMO)
Understand that this is a misdemeanor (will go on your c rim. record)and you really do not want that on your record if it can be avoided. A lawyer will be able to tell you the best way to go about this. In example,Some states allow a you to take a defensive driver course and or work community service to reduce this to speeding. A local lawyer that specializes in traffic defense is going to be your best bet.
Please 'Dont be too bummed about it though. In the end it is just a ticket and with time and money it will go away. Hey they got me and i am still around! ;)

This is my second time typing a reply.. i give up for now "extreme site lag"- We ever going to fix this?

i have to agree with staypuft on this one, that was somewhat of a retarded statement. sounds like a lawyer stoner on a pseudo power trip . (its amazing what 1/2 a joint can do to some people!! lol)

all in all speeding tickets suck ass, but they can be dealt with so no worries. if its a one time thing then it will come and go, but if thats your norm, then bruh you really need to relax on that shit, cause you KNOW po-po is out there on the prowl.

its funny how it works out with us stoners though, we do dopey shit when we are without and think things through when we are in supply. funny how that works huh?

Unless you have priors related to drugs, I wouldn't worry about tests when they put you on supervision/probation. If you do or look like a total stoner, start cleaning up lol.

In many places if this is your first ticket they will offer you a driving class you have to attend which will wipe the ticket off your record, and instead you just pay a small fee for the class, so you'd spend 8 hours in front of a driving instructor "learning".

See if there is a class available to you, they will usually send you something in the mail soon after the citation.

At least thats how it works here :p

Almost 30 over the limit? That is like doing 65 in a 35 or 75 in a 45? You aren't getting 'screwed out' of nothing and deserve everything thats coming to you. You could have seriously hurt someone else...and the fines are for idiots that go out and speed a wreck up a whole bunch of shit or people with no insurance we all have to pay for with taxes, which could of happened here. So should the other speeders who make this scenario more likely pay for that? yes.

Sorry to be harsh man but my sister broke her largest bone in her leg and couldn't walk for a couple years and barley now becasue some asswipe was speeding who complained just as you are now about the ticket while my sister was on her way to get bolted up. There is no good enough reason to almost kill someone...I realize you didn't hurt anyone but stop being so selfish and think about other people for a change. That's why they call it 'reckless driving' and it's NOT 'FUUUUUUUUUUUU'.

The speeding is no biggie IMO, my last ticket I got pulled doing double the limit in a 35 zone and had a mandatory court appearance and payed $300 (and have not been ticketed in 2 years since).

The real charge is driving to endanger or whatever they call it, that part would scare me and can be serious.
