Recirculating coco

I dont understand why so few people do it.

I am a former DWC grower. I switched to coco about 3 months ago. Im hand watering, but i have my containers sitting on a DIY table. The only runoff i have discarded is when i noticed it was well above acceptable limits (a 3.2ec reading comes to mind).

I am really small scale, but that shouldnt make a difference.
As i already said, i am a former DWC grower, and i was using a very small reservoir (one bush 3.5Gal 250WHPS; check my sig). I eventually got to just topping off and adjusting to the proper ec after a while, going i think 3 weeks without a dump.

I understand that the plant could use different elements in different proportions, but if i could go weeks without discarding my DWC, i dont understand why dumping my 10% runoff back onto the plants could cause any harm.

If they dont piss ('runoff' didnt seem to fit :joint:) I'll just mix up a fresh feeding.

this is my growing chamber btw

i reconfigured the shelves, and added another 250W ( i dont know if these images will show up, someone let me know)

This is exactly what I want to do. I stumbled into the coco forums last night, stayed up until 3am reading diaries and threads about coco, and I can't wait to get started. I was going to do DWC my next grow, but I think I'll like this a lot more. That looks like a great little setup you've got ShroomDr.

I've got an adjustable shelf all cut out to fit my cabinet, but realized I had no use for it since I have an adjustable height reflector. If I were to do a recirculating coco drip, that would be perfect for holding the plants above the reservoir.

If you don't mind, I've got a few questions.

I see you said you'd go three weeks without changing the water, is that the most you did in DWC? I was planning on going a full run w/o changing the res when I did my DWC, but does stuff accumulate from the nutes recirculating through the coco? Did you change the reservoir after three weeks because there were negative affects, or what?

And the stems on those plants are massive, are they mother plants being flowered, or what's the deal?

I went weeks without dumping my old DWC. 3.5Gal, and i would top off about .5gal per day. I dump the coco runoff back onto the plants, and then feed them normally, until they start pissing.

I vegged those plants for 8-10 weeks, thats why the stems are so thick. I have also switched to pure coco, fuck the perlite. I have 4 more plants that are the same age, just sitting in my veg chamber. I broke up the roots, and transplanted them to 100% coco. Im gonna give them a week or two, and then expand my flowering chamber.

Ive got some recirculating coco...top feed drip. Super easy to set up. I could switch to DTW with relative ease too. Recirculating worked real good though and saves on nutes. The entire thing cost under 50 bucks to setup up too including the pump and coco! Its just a DIY ebb and flow setup with drip lines run instead of flooding. Its great because you can run as many drippers as you want and not have to worry about leaks because its all in the tray.

I think to recirculate in coco you either have to really have your plants dialed...dump res and flush frequently say every 10 days or so...or just take it easy on the nutes! Dumping the res and flushing is a good idea though just to make sure the medium doesn't get built up with nutes and the levels are correct in the res.

i recirculate in my current coco grow with 45 1g in a 4x4 under 600w. Its a friggin forest! I dont understand why one would let their nutes go to waste. I change the res every week, and adjust depending on what the plants tell me they want. Thats a great looking cab, DR. Nice work.
