I dont understand why so few people do it.
I am a former DWC grower. I switched to coco about 3 months ago. Im hand watering, but i have my containers sitting on a DIY table. The only runoff i have discarded is when i noticed it was well above acceptable limits (a 3.2ec reading comes to mind).
I am really small scale, but that shouldnt make a difference.
As i already said, i am a former DWC grower, and i was using a very small reservoir (one bush 3.5Gal 250WHPS; check my sig). I eventually got to just topping off and adjusting to the proper ec after a while, going i think 3 weeks without a dump.
I understand that the plant could use different elements in different proportions, but if i could go weeks without discarding my DWC, i dont understand why dumping my 10% runoff back onto the plants could cause any harm.
If they dont piss ('runoff' didnt seem to fit ) I'll just mix up a fresh feeding.
this is my growing chamber btw
i reconfigured the shelves, and added another 250W ( i dont know if these images will show up, someone let me know)
