I have a seizure disorder and recently went through extensive surgery and invasive monitoring. For years I have maxxed out & a variety of anti-convulsants and never was able to control my complex partial seizures. The only thing that lessened the severity of seizure activity was MJ--but even that didn't eliminate them. so I decided to opt for surgery.
The installed four grids on the brain (right temporal lobe) to locate seizure focus in 1st surgery and ceased medication, hooked my grids up to EEg to induce & locate seizure activity. Took almost 2 weeks to have enough seizures to get enough info.
During this time, the neurological team found I was one of the 2% of world population w/speech activity on both temporal lobes--which made removal of seizure focus on brain a risk (5-7%) that I would prevent me from speaking rest of my life!
Long story short--- had the 2nd surgery anyway, had 2in by 2in removed from temporal lobe. Got out & haven't had any seizures since!!! Speech has been a little off but is getting better all the time (week to week w/ practice).
Now I experience MJ in a totally different mindset--helps w/mental relaxation especially after the worst 3 weeks of my life in the hospital. Just thought I'd share
