some people love to squall about how bad crime is in the "big cities with Democratic mayors". well, an article on MSN today from Salon, by Austin Sarat, takes a closer look at those claims. a new study by non-partisan group Third way shows that GOP dominated states have a much higher homicide rate, even after taking their biggest cities out of the equation (they left the biggest in for blue states). the murder rate in states that went for The Chump exceeded the murder rates in states that voted for Biden every single year since 2000. cumulatively, their murder rate was 23% higher. even in mid-size cities with GOP mayors, many were ahead of Dem. cities. like Bakersfield California (McCarthy territory) was more than twice as high as San Francisco, represented by Pelosi. since 2000, red states murder rates have increased by 39.4 % versus 13.4 % for blue states. the GOP is great at TALKING about crime...

The Original Chicago Mass Shooting

St Valentine's Day Massacre
94 years ago today seven members and associates of Bugs Moran’s North Side Gang were gunned down in a garage at 2122 N. Clark St. in Lincoln Park.
“These murders went out of the comprehension of a civilized city, the butchering of seven men by open daylight raises this question for Chicago: Is it helpless?” – Chicago Tribune, February 16th, 1929
Aside from being better dressed, not much has changed in the subsequent 94 years. As of today, we’ve already recorded 61 homicides this year, which is nearly 9 times more than what the massacre tallied. Last year we saw the equivalent of 105 St. Valentine’s Day Massacres but the average person would struggle to name a single victim or location.
We don’t have a lot of real estate here to go into details, so head on over to our Substack and read more about today’s events as well as how 1920s crime stats compare to today’s.
