Rebuilt my veg room today

Before, my veg cab was a single layer, all plants fighting for the 3 T5's I had, which was CLEARLY not enough light anymore.

So it was time to upgrade. got a new Flouro set up for about 150, and about $30 in hardware store for wood to built up some shelving. I wanted to have a third shelf for clones, while the cabinet would accept up to 95 inches, the door only allowed access to the two shelves I already planned. Oh well.

So I gave 48 inches to the ladies, and about 18 to the clone area. Both lights are fully adjustable for height. Currently no fans/vent in this room, but air does pass through it, into the flower room, and out the scrubber, so there is always fresh air, and it seems to be enough to keep temps pretty low (but I have yet to throw a thermometer in there)

May I ask how many watts are actually running upstairs and down? as in how many watts is each tube and how many of them. Also how long are those bulbs? Cheers

Upper:

Bottom:

This is a China Starlite unit (no name or asian only google results, unfortunately)

Very similar to T5, but these have four 24" U shaped bulbs (so like a VERY long, thin U)

So it's "similar" to a 8 tube like this, but not quite:

As far as lumens and watts.. I really dont have much of an idea.

Best I could find on some resellers site:
54W puts out 4860 initial lumens per tube, 28W puts out 2520 initial lumens per tube.

As for my fancy asian light, no clue. I need to turn it off to attempt to read the tubes....

I used that "measure 8 times, cut 4 times" method. Still came out nice though.


The top is easier to guess than bottom.

The bottom has bulbs that *look* like this:

But not sure if that wattage is accurate at ALL.

It is brighter than the 3 T5's...

I suppose I could go unplug one and try to read some print in a while.

Looks great, thanks for posting the pictures, seems like a well thought out design. I hope to be setting up a separate veg area in the next two weeks and love this idea.

BTW, found the bulbs are power compact flouros on the lower part. 55w each, 4 bulbs. So about 220 watts there.
