rebuilding cab in dirty basement

Hey folks, there have been a lot of raids going on in my neck of the woods, so the wife thinks its time to move our huge cab from an upstairs bedroom to the basement. Problem is, we don't have interior access to the downstairs and its dirty dirty DIRTY down there. I'm going to bomb the downstairs before starting to even reconstruct the smaller version of our cab, but do you think that's enough? The cab now is nowhere near air tight so I'm worried that when its reconstructed that it'll be the same way. Also, what about pests coming through the ventilation? I'm at a complete loss as to what to do right now. Any suggestions would rea"ly be appreciated. -B

accessing your basement from the outside could pose a risk of it's own. maybe if your access route is out of the neighbours line of sight it would be ok . the basement that i grow in is none too clean and my cabinet allows easy access to insects. even so, my pest problems have been small. if i were worried about it i would place nylons over the intakes and seal it up a bit better.

Sounds like you're gonna be using a cellar... That sucks. Been there, won't do that again. Dust, mold, mildew, bud rot and bugs all become major problems when you've got dirt floors...

Build your cabinet air tight, filter the air intake, scrub the exhaust, run a good ozone generator outside the cab to kill anything near it. Keep a heavy duty dehumidifier going 24/7.

As for access, depending on where the neighbors are, an outside access isn't that bad, more of a nuisance than a problem. If you are adamant about accessing from inside, you can get spiral staircases for about $500 for metal ones, cut a hole in the floor upstairs and mount. Works.

Good Luck!

Yikes, maybe ill try the garage route. Might be a bit warm though. I have one a/c, maybe I can run it in the veg side with the halides and use ducting to pull it into the flowering side and then out.

Depends on location and how he's growing. E&F worked well in my garage all year long. Now that I'm doing DWC, summer temps are presenting a problem with res temps. Blowing 85 degree air around the res oddly doesn't lower temps into the 60s. Who knew?

Haha, my net was being dumb. Everytime I tried posting it said connection error and now I get on and it posted evertime, sorry for the ocd posts. I'm probably just gonna do the soil thing in there, maybe try a scrog. I think I should be ok.

If you get raided it wont matter what room you grow! you will still be raided.
I say keep it in the room that has worked best for you. good luck

Its more complicated than originally stated though. We have to have an appraiser come to the house and a huge cab taking up the majority of the room would look a little suspicious. I'm rebuilding it smaller and in the garage it can look like a storage box. I hope he's not too nosy.
