REALLY close up... looking for preflower

I'm new to this but I think I've got a few males in there... I've got 16 but most aren't showing anything yet. Interesting pictures though

Those are really cool pictures! Yup, they look male, although I have never seen a pot plant this close before. Those pictures are great, but would be even better if you could somehow adjust the depth of field (so everything is in focus). I believe you do this by increaseing the f-stop on the camera. I don't know if your camera is capable, but could be worth a try. Great pictures though just the way they are. I hope you don't mind I save them to my hard drive?

Thanks for the kind words TGT. Four of these babies got chopped last night. I hold out hope that females preflower later than males. I wish i could have made the DOF deeper but in order to get these pics i had to use a 300mm macro lens with a 50mm lens reversed and screwed on the end of the 300mm. I don't know if you know anything about this kind of set up but if you do I would love to hear about how to increase the DOF, not even sure that you can increase it. These were taken with the 300mm lens at f29 (hoping for larger DOF) and 50mm lens at f 1.8 (to allow enough light in to take the pic). I tried smaller f stops on the 50mm to no avail. I'll try to get some female shots when they show.

Hey everyone..I was looking for some pics on what to look for on sexing the plants..this is my first grow, and I really dont want to have a male ruin my crop because I didnt know what to look for..any help would be greatly appreciated...

If there are white hairs its a girl. If there is a sack of grapes/balls then its a boy. Once you've seen it you can't really mistake them. Good luck!

thanks for the info/site...So, determaning sex cant be done by the leaf structure? 5 leaves its male, 7 its a mom?..just curious..someone had told me that at some point in time....thanks again for the help....

Hey BCboy, sometimes females take longer to show. I am hoping on that right now, as I have a Lifesaver and SourBubblex3 in 12/12 that are taking their sweet ass time and the suspence is killing me. Usually the prettiest ones are male too. sux everytime.
I am playing roulette right now, with a big strapping Lifesaver male sitting in there getting blue balls.

Around then and definitely after alternating nodes start. Its an average usually, I have seen gals show very fast too.
When I'm sexing, I look for one thing, two pistels(hairs). I also use a 100x mag, so as soon as i see a male, its ghandi and once i see two hairs, its transplant time. Even, when preflowers are really small, if they appear to be more than one in the node area, its usually male. I also wait till I am sure with the males, as I have seen some weird female preflowers that looked male too.
Looking nice and green, looks like ya had an issue early on but sorted it out.
