It's time for me to buy an exhaust fan for my room. Anyone have any good ones they would recommend. preferrably not too expensive either, but def. not cheap quality either.

Grow room is 11 ft. long by 6.5 ft wide. by 8 ft. high so.... what is that. 572 cfm i need. and then why not tack on an extra hundred cfm or so just to give my babies the air flow they deserve

.

Ever seen one that you could like screw onto plywood and if a hole was cut in the plywood it would exhaust through that hole...so that I don't have to hook up any ducting to the exhaust.

And then anyone had any experience with hooking up an exhaust fan but you had to run ducting to connect the intake side of the fan to the grow room...does that work or are you supposed to have the intake side wide open and then duct the exhaust?

If it doesn't matter my set up would work much more ideally if i could duct the intake side...

THANKS SO MUCH! I have never grown indoors so am noob! but VERY EXCITED TO HAVE complete control...

That would be a Dayton Blower but, I'd listen to BrotherBear and invest an extra $12 in a flange. Below is a chart to match fans to your lamps wattage.

THANKS, that looks like what im going to get. and then i just figured out that yest i can duct both intake and outtake if need be... so that vortex fan will work for that? I just found out that I should probably hang it so that it's quiter right?

THANKS

Hey man,

Ya, you can most definitely run Ducting/Vent Tubes that are attached to the Intake side, Exhaust side or both sides of an Inline Fan.

Or if you want to attach it directly to the Plywood, I'd do what was suggested above and buy the Flange/Attachment Kit - That way you could bolt the Flange to the Plywood, then cut a hole in the plywood to match the size of the flange opening for maximum air-flow.

As far as what type of fan to buy - That really depends on what you want to use it for....

If you just want to exchange the air in your whole room and are on a limited budget, your cheapest option would be to buy a Blower.

But if you want to be able to vent the air in your room AND also have the option/ability to use the same fan to also Air-Cool your light - Then I'd go with a nice Inline Fan.

I would recommend spending the extra $40-$50 or so and get yourself a nice Vortex Inline Fan as suggested above.

That is what I use in my room. My room is almost exactly the same size as yours too. I use a 6" 395 CFM Vortex Fan that cost me about $140(give or take).
I use it to vent & scrub/clean the air in my room PLUS it also is used to Aair-Cool my 1000 watt Light as well.

I have a carbon filter that all the air in the room is pulled thru, then it attaches to my fan (which is mounted from brackets on the wall) by a piece of ducting. Then the exhaust side has another piece of Ducting that runs to my Air-Cooled Light/Reflector - And 1 more piece of Ducting runs from the other side of my light & out of the room.

The fan runs nice and quiet and works great - It keeps the room temp. at a constant 70-75 Degrees, cools my light perfectly and takes care of the smell during Veg and Bloom (with the exhausted air having really no smell to it at all).

Then I just have i think 4 Passive Intake holes so the fan can pull new air into the room, effectively completing the Ventilation System - And like I said it works great. I can exchange all the air in my room, cooll my light and kill all the grow odor with 1 good fan.

Oh, you'll also want to put an oscillating fan in the room to blow air across/thru the plants.

I LOVE and ADORE my S&P but, I'd only recommend it to those with stealth concerns. They simply can't compete with a Centrifugal for suckification.

Can fans a quality known name, Elicent another but, I believe Vortex is the only one with a 10 year warranty.
