REAL QUICK!! I really need some advise on temps control

Hello everyone. Im new to icmag! I really like the look and feel, seems to be a lot of knowledge on here. hopefully I can soak some of it up.. Thanks in advance.

So i got a great room for growing. going to chop it up to give me about 75-85 sq. ft. one window available. My concern is how to ventillate it and regulat temps properly. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO FRESH AIR that could be supplied to the room. the room is not attached to the homes central ac. and im not going to cut a whole in the door to the room to attach a hose and bring another rooms air...sorry lol.

So first I'm going to throw out my idea. Ideally I think it is what is going to work best.

I take that window and cover it up with plywood (block out the light) but cut a hole in it to fit like a squirrel cage or other intake fan. suck in the outside fresh air... problem is im subject to the temps of the outside air. 110 sometimes in summer, and sometimes as low as 40 in winter at nights.

So for the summer i hook up the intake fan on a timer, it runs however often I end up deciding is often enough to pump in adequate fresh air. and then I also put a window mounted hvac in that window as well. so when it pumps in 100 plus degree air the hvac kicks on and cools the room down...and the hvac will also work as my exhaust. so i got a great circulation going there.. no problems right?

Ok but winter..... I would like to only have to get a window mounted cooling unit... there like 100 bucks.. the ones that heat and cool are like 500. and if i just get one that cools i'll only need to use it in the summer. and then in the winter instead of using that intake fan on a timer switch, i hook up a temp switch to it. so when the temps get too high they pump in that 40 degree air and cool the room down.

This is where I am not experienced enough to know what to expect.. i have only grown outdoors so dont' know what kind of heat my lights are going to bring. I want to use t5ho all the way, and just change the color spectrum out for veg and flower. and i need enough light to grow 12 plants as big as they will get.

So my question am i going to end up putting in enough lights to supply 12 plants that will end up raising the temp of that room in the winter high enough...OFTEN ENOUGH! to kick on that intake fan often enough to supply adequate amount of fresh air. THe more often that intake fan is on the better, means more fresh air obviously right? but i can't be pumping in 40 degree F air for 10 min every half an hour if the lights arent going to be heating the room up hot enough. the room would be too cold. or i would have to sacrifice how often the intake fan was running.

SO basically from the experienced...do you think it will all balance out well enough to not need to get a hvac that heats. I would prefer the most HONEST, and TRUTHFUL answer. I mean it's ok if i have to blow 500 bucks on one that heats as well but it allows me to run that intake fan all the time...

Thanks everyone....

oh yeah the room is like 8 ft. high. so its not small a small space by any means.. its medium...75-85 square ft. about 9 ft long and 8 ft. wide.

You have the intake/outake ideal backwards.

What you should do is have your squirrel cage be your outtake and your ac/heater be your intake(dont know of a window unit that will exhaust air) and control room temps.

thanks bro

Ya i just did some more research why waiting for responses and realize i kind of had it backwards.. i would be building up way too much pressure....

http://home.howstuffworks.com/ac2.htm

My very first idea for my room was what you were saying.. and using the window mounted one to bring in the fresh air... but check out that link... it shows me what I am a dumbass for not realizing... obviously a hvac isn't going to suck in outside air...it sucks in the air from whats already in the room runs it over coils and blows the hot air outside and then the cool stuff back in... so thats how i was thinking it would be exhausting.

Does that change your thought process at all?

If so... you got any ideas for bringing in fresh air... does pressure build up work like so...if I took that window and put the squirrel cage on the very top of the window so that it was my exhaust blowing out a hole.... and I had another hole in that window just on the very bottom of the window...would the room try to balance out the pressure by bringing air in through that hole on the bottom? like would I actually feel air being pushed in?

SHould you run your exhaust 24/7?

Thanks man

If you have enough AC you may not need an intake, run air cooled lights, the intake for the lights would pull hot air right off the ceiling and blow straight out outside, above your AC. If you are not on a slab, you could cut a hole in the floor and put a regular register vent on it for an intake if needed, I did that at my last house and nobody even noticed there wasn't an air duct hooked up underneath it. ;)

Yes a intake hole would let fresh air in.

I let mine run 24/7 (one less timer to have) and humidity will rise when
the lights go off .Which can cause mold and ruin some nice bud's.
