Ratings....

Why did the site decide to go with these positive ratings things? Is it because people are too lazy to go to the reputation button and type a message? I dislike the positive ratings idea very much.

it adds to the hype machine, everyone gets to see if your posts was helpful to everyone else or if people liked what you said

It makes you look like a badass when you have posted at the bottom of your post

12 out of 12 members found this post helpful.

Or confirms your idiocy when it says

0 out of 8 members found this post helpful

Its also quite funny too, because I'll react to a post, then see how many people reacted the same way I did.

Smokey, the old reputation imputs still work, so its not like its one or the other, its both so people have a choice

I think I've only used the little scale icon for rep once or twice, when it was really deserved.

I use the "did you find this post helpful" function more often, because it's faster.

Are they the same thing?

It's good to remember that if you answer yes for the helpful question you won't be allowed to add reputation with the scale icon for a while since it gives reputation answering yes.

If you want to "helpful" a post and also give someone a nice reputation boost, then use the scale icon first and then rate the actual post helpful by clicking "yes." That way, the person gets maximum reputation and you can also show your positive rating on the particular post.

A number of times I've done the helpful post and then thought I should full rep. the person with a message too only to realize I can't do it and have to wait many days.

Does the helpful post thing do anything for the person that made the post? Or is it just to rate the post?

Points?

One rep. point which is why I said above to use the scale icon first if you want to give more than one because once you click yes you've given rep. and won't be allowed to add anymore for a while. The helpful won't give the one point if you've already added rep. by the scale icon but it will still show on the post in the "yes" count.

not sure, but i think the number of points you receive depends on the the person who gives them to you also. the more point the rep giver has the more points the rep getter gets ..... i think

I just thought the way this rating works sucks. New peoples that do not know about the rep scale and just give positive post ratings. they end up accumulating one point after 4 postive ratings. that just sucks. of course this is just my opinion and in no way it it a knock to this site. i wouldn't have been here for 5 years if i didn't think it was a great site to help people cultivate the plant we all love.

Are we here to get approval from our peers, or are we here to learn and maybe help each other? Who cares about rep..it won't get you a cup of coffee. I love you guys..I'm going to bed

actually it's 0-5 points, have a look @ your score right now HH.......

I've gotten 3 posi post reps (green dots not grey) and not gone up a single point.

Yep, you're right. A small range for the helpful, but still much less than using the scale.

EDIT: S4L and I did a test and I got 6 from a helpful post rating, so it's at least 0-6. I wonder if it's just a percentage of what you can give maximum from using the scale.

Hmm I never knew this. I usually only use the scale if I have a specific comment or props to give to someone, or with people I am 'friendly' with here, otherwise its usually just the yes button. Good to know.

I like it. Like sam said.

If someone asks a question and gets a few different responses, its easier to just click, "like post" and to dislike ones you think are wrong.

As opposed to posting. Sam is right and grassman doesn't know what he is talking about.

You can just click agree or disagree, without having to reiterate things other people have already said, or call people out for being wrong.

Ratings explanation

Ratings explanation

Looked around and could not find info. Maybe I'm over looking...or ????

Read that there are POSITIVE, NEGATIVE & NEUTRAL....by colors...green, red, grey. Saw in FAQ, Guidelines.

My curiosity- BANNED means violation of TOU or something offensive, I surmise?

What does it mean by "DISABLED REPUTATION"?

Are BANNED and DISABLED REP a forever situation? Any redemption?

Curious, that's all.
