Rapid rooters/peat pellets and autoflowers?

I was reading a thread and saw that someone said that starting auto's in rapid rooters or peat pellets seems to stunt the growth. All my plants I start in rapid rooters and have noticed weak and pathetic roots compared to some that I just put right in soil. my question is if anyone else has noticed this because I have been wondering for awhile why the roots were poor.

try rockwool 1" cubes mate they work wonders for me but i do grow hydro, thats not to say that rockwool can not be transfered to soil though.

if you want good roots use a root stimulator i always use rhizotonic about 4ml to 1ltr of water and .2 ec of feed for seedlings

i never really have a problem with autos and stunted growth

I was orginally looking into rockwool buts its pretty expensive. Especially compared to rapid rooters. I think next time Ill put the seeds right into soil and see if I get better results.

I myself like using the peat pellets. When I was little and my grandma planted her veggies she used them and when I started growing I of course used them. Only now and then have I had problems with them but after I starting soaking them and letting them dry out and rewetting them I have had better luck.

Now I like just putting the seed into a cup of soil as I found that the seed husk and the interior membrane seem to come off on the way up easier this way.

Most places peat pellets are a seasonal item so buy the big packs for use all year.

I used jiffy peat pellets as they're super easy to transport to a guerilla spot. No fussing with plastic cups, etc. I didn't have any problems with stunted growth. That's probably more attributed to leaving them in peat pellets too long and not transplanting/feeding soon enough.

What I do is after the pellets expand I roll them between my fingers to loosen them up a bit, than put the seeds in there.

And you do need to keep an eye on them because they will dry out quite fast.

I started using Rapid Rooters this year after having poor germination rates the past 2 years. My germination rate has gone up and I'm now getting around 95%. I've seen no problems with stunting or unhealthy roots. I suspect that could happen if they aren't placed in soil soon enough.
