Hello guys

Can i use rain water with GHE tripack (hard water)

I cant afford nutrients for soft water, but i got alot of rain water in a tank :)

Yes, use it. You might have to mix in some tap to help stabilize the pH.

if its runoff from a roof you should consider if the roof has been treated with anything over the last 10 or so years...things like moldicide can be gnarly in your water...no good for your ladies

All right. But the roof is about 3 years old. So should not be a problem?

I've been using the rainwater from my now-7yo home from the beginning. The first rain flushes a lot of crap off the roof, but after that you get nice, clear, soft water that's almost ready for use (as long as it's not too cold). I just mechanically filter the first run-off, literally using a finely woven piece of cloth (I actually use my husband's leftover Zorbees) tied over the end of the hose. I use a sump pump to move the water from one place to another.
