Rainwater for seed germination?

i germinate in soil, and rainwater seems to be the most natural way since it works exactly the same way outside.

i collected a few jars a couple of days ago and put them in the fridge. unless anyone here knows better, i'm gonna use this water to germinate my next 10 seeds with (especially since i got rather hard water). of course i'll let it warm to room temp before i use it...

anyone care to share their experiences with rainwater for indoor soil grows (and germination)?

I only use rain or melted snow for my plants. Maybe not if your air is really polluted or if you're collecting off a tarred roof or something I dunno

Dependent on where you live most rain water can be quite acidic and maybe not best for germing seeds with. Just my opinion. I use water thats either of a netutral PH or around the 6.5ph mark. I have never tried rain water nor know how acidic the rain here is but I like to start seeds with bottled water at the ph levels I mentioned.

i mixed it with some tap water and plopped the seeds in for a soak. ph was ok.

As long as the ph is around 6.5 or even 7. You should have no problem germing seeds with that or using it to water your plants. Luckily my tap water is a perfect 6.6 so I just use that and always had great results.

Rule of thumb: when considering what type of water to use for germinating marijuana seeds is-is it safe enough to drink or is it good enough to use?
compared to rain or tap water, distilled water is mostly used for maximum results
