Radiohead - In Rainbows

L

Lune TNS

Anybody else listening to this album yet? Radiohead is one of my favorite rocks bands, they're some great songwriters and don't care what people think about them - they kinda bridge the gap between art and pop imo. Anyway, the album is on their website if anyone wants to check it out, you can choose how much money you want to give them for it. I gave them $4, thats what albums should cost anyway... :rasta:

I am currently trying to get into their site to DL it but im sure there are many others like me doing the same, slowing down the website :(. I bet the album is amazing. Radiohead always seems to blow my mind. Ecspecially High and Dry, one of the greatest songs ever created.

it's pretty good- i hope this is a temporary thing beforethey do something groundbreaking again. I love what they did with the song 'nude', and 'videotape' is so beautiful i imagine many people want to put that song in a film.

This record does not have any really epic moments - nothing like the fuzz guitar of "airbag" launching off the record, and nothing extremely unexpected like with KID A. I think "amnesiac' started off more strongly with "packt like sardines. . . '

Its freaking radiohead though, they throw away songs that would make the careers of some bands.

haha so true, radiohead owns the music business. they dont even need to sell their own records.

I wasnt expecting much when i saw them live the first time but it was probably one of the best shows ive ever been to. The drummer might as well have been a drum machine.

I paid $3.33.
It certainly beats the last couple of radiohead albums which were quite poor for such a talented bunch imo.
Nowhere near as good as "The Bends" and "OK Computer" two classic albums, with "The Bends" making my top 3 albums of the 90's.

If you like Radiohead and you've never heard Muse...find Muse, the best British band for decades.
Their album "Absolution" is the greatest album this century.

Muse, and every other band (ie: Coldplay) have done a great job of holding onto that "sound" from The Bends.

I think new bands are doing the same thing with that Kid A "sound" nowadays. It's always a case of being ahead of your time.

The great thing about Paranoid Android was, at that point, they weren't too far ahead of us. ;-)

I'll admit it, I paid $0 for it
sorry guys I like the concept but I like other bands more that I pay nothing for so it wouldn't be fair in my mind to pay you
I've read a lot of news that acts like this is a crazy new idea
But I've been downloading things for free for ages and buying the cd if it's good enough
This just let's you choose how much to pay them
good cd but not great

Breathofwater is on the money. If muse was selling their album the same way I would give $10 for it. (Even though their last album was a little too pop for my taste)

The whole recording industry is out of control and out of touch. It was nice to see a band with some talent give the industry a reality check.

Not their best album to date. I'm glad that I paid $0 once I listened to it. It just wasn't something I would keep listening to. I think once through the album was enough.

Heh, I don't start getting into Radiohead albums until I've listened to them like 25-30 times. Most of my favorite albums ever didn't really move me the first time I listened to them.

I hear you on that DWAI but some of their earlier albums got me hooked the first time through. I may not appreciate an album fully the first few times I listen to it but, I can tell if I will like it.

If you can't vibe with an album while you are high you may as well just put it down. Personally, the music that I enjoy sober is even more enjoyable while high.

Yea, that's the tough thing about a band like Radiohead. They set the bar so high with albums like The Bends and pushed it even further with OK Computer, that it's kind of hard to -not- be disappointed with everything they've put out since. Then again, if they made 4 albums that sounded like a derivative of OK Comp, we'd probably be bitching about that too. It's tough being an artist.

InRainbows...got it listened to it...really really like it.

As with KidA I wasn't sure how great it was on my first couple listens, but the more you listen the better it gets. I rank it right behind OK Computer and Kid A. I hate seeing how media outlets rank music, and the online release let me experience it without any influence...that I really enjoyed.

- I like Muse, but I think they gain a lot in terms of inspiration by listening to Radiohead. They are certainly a good band...but I'm sure even they wouldn't claim Absolution as even the greatest album of the past decade.
