Radiant 6"AC vs Radiant 8"AC???

Hey all:wave:

Well I am in the process of getting ready to buy my first aircooled reflector. I've grown for a long time now without one and now that I am upgrading to a 1000watt hps I figured it was a necessity.

I already have my brand and model picked out. I am going to buy a Hydrofarm Radiant 6"AC or a 8"AC. I currently run 6" ducting through my tent and am pretty satisfied with the airflow. (DR150 tent 5x5, Can66, 6" vortex + stanley blower for intake)

The only reason I would want the 8" is because I plan to upgrade over the next couple years to running 2k inline for flower and I know that by that time I will need the 8".

There is no difference in price between the two models, and if I choose the 8" I will continue to use my 6" fan I will just get two 6-8" adapters to fit on to the hood.

So in general I am looking for any input from growers WHO HAVE USED ONE OR BOTH SIZES of air cooled reflectors. Just want to hear some first hand experiences so that I can make a more informed purchase. Thanks all:wave:

Hey N.Kron
I had a old radiant hood that I modified to a 6" air cooled that I used for a couple of yrs w/ my 1 kw.

I just upgraded to the Radiant 8"...cause one day I may want 2+ kW.

I use a 6" Vortex, 6" flex hose, & 6" DIY carbon filter.

No regrets! :joint:

Thanks for the info Peat! Yea I already own two old radiant hoods that are not aircooled and I love the design of that reflector. Def gonna go with the 8" since its the same price..

Still looking for more input from others on this though...

i chose 6" so I can have more refletive material. You shoudlnt have a problem cooling 2 6" hoods with one fan. I cool 24 hoods with 2 fans.

i run a 6" Canfan Max HO through my 6" Radiant AC and it does what it should, quite well at that. go 8" if you plan on doing something bigger in the future

Thanks for the input Eminem and Rocky!

I did end up purchasing the 8" just because I plan on running 2 or more of these inline down the road. I will put up some pics here when it arrives.. Man its like waiting for Christmas now!

Yeah bro, with a max of 2 or 3 1k's six inch should be good. IMO, worst case scenario, you gotta throw another fan on the intake. The 8 inchers are made for long ducting runs, to minimize drag...
Good luck kidd k+
