Growing? Shit as in feces? J/K, Yea, had losts of different shades, purple, red, pink... like if you have lots of purple or red in the flowers it tinges the qwiz...

Thanks for the response, but I don't think this has anything to do with a preexisting tinge in my herb. This was really bright orange (like fuqin road cone orange). I'm thinking that it's something similar to the orange/red build up that I often see on the bottom portion of the filter to my humidifier when it's overdue for a change (perhaps from sitting wet for too long?) Had A LOT of qwiz vaping off in fairly small dishes (I'd say a good two " of alc. to vap off). I think perhaps a small amount of water (the leftover 9% from the 91% iso) was left trapped under a fairly thick layer of curing qwiz (took a good 2 weeks before it was ready to scrape) and somehow grew some funk. Anyone out there know what this might have been? I went ahead and smoked it anyway (couldn't bare to throw it out) and I'm still breathing, so I'm sure it wasn't anything too horrid, but I'd like to know what it was, and how to prevent it from happening again. I dig qwizo on my herb and plan on making a lot more with my trim. Perhaps just using a larger dish would be the way to go. I'd still like to know what that orange stuff actually was though.

FWIW, the orange layer was only visible in the drying dish after most all of the alc had vaped off, and was no longer visible after it had been scraped off and balled up.

Thanks

will a double boil (212 F) be enough temperature for decarboxylation (which I have read is suggested to be at 250 F for 30 minutes) ?

I made a batch with some dj shorts blueberry trim, and i noticed when i squeezed the cheese cloth after rinsing it a bright orange tinge came out as well...

This is a silly silly argument back a page or two there. There is no difference between straining with a bubblebag or any other kind of filter. It's just a filter to get the material out. It has nothing to do with gland head size since this is an alcohol extraction and there are no solid glands. Alchohol does not hurt a bubblebag, it's just a silk screen. Sheesh so sensitive.

To get back on topic I LOVE the amber shatter of the 15sec qwiso pictured above. I have done it tons of times with trim but never gotten amber shatter like bho so I am gonna give it a try with a small amount of bud and a shorter shake time. I love the better yield of qwiso compared to bho but the quality of mine would have to improve to compete! Hehe time for tests I will report back.

If you are running buds, do you guys grind them up or leave solid/semi-broken like bho?????? Thanks

people have mentinoed they do something between grinding them up, and leaving them in tact. Something along the lines of cutting chunks the width of a finger or something.

My personal opinion is that leaving big chunks, the alcohol or solvent wont be able to penetrate deep into the buds, and leave a lot of wasted THC and cannabinoids. However, if you are going for top notch product, you could do a first run for amber, and o a second or third run soaked longer for a less pure oil, so you dont waste the leftover buds.

I don't know if anyone ever discussed this but would boiling the plant material a few times in water to remove the chlorophyl and other nasties help with the quality of the final product? Would it let you do a longer soak? Has anyone tried this?

This is a little something I made from the trim I had from my outdoor AF plants. The first try is waaaaay cleaner than the second one, but for my second try with QWISO I am definetly not dissapointed :)

I'm making this right now for the first time. I used 91% ISO that was left in the freezer over night.

What is that white powder that I'm finding after evaporation? Is that chemicals left over from the iso evaporation? is it safe?

Thanks!

The white is usually water solubles.
