Greetings everyone!
My seedling is 10 days old from seed. She seemed to grow well the first few days, however I haven't noticed any growth for about 3-4 days now. My question is, did my seedling die? Any help, suggestions would be appreciated. Please dont flame me for being a newbie! Thank U
nope, seedling looks good. They will slow a bit after popping 1st set of leaves, watch the new set of leaves coming. They will take off and never look back in a few days.
no she looks very much alive to me...ph what is it...how wet is that medium...what kind of light..how far a way from the plant..more information please
What kind of light do you have your seedling under and how far away is it? Also, let that little baby suck up the water available and if possible, put a little airflow on it.
Thanks for your kind help Dirth South, brainthor & Brian1975
Heres a bit of information on my setup.
-Under 95W Envirolite (the one for vegging)
-18/6 light/dark schedule
-watering with distilled water, measured ph of water is 6.3
-watering every 2 days, 1 oz of water (am i overwatering or underwatering by any chance?)
-vent fan
-temps are 79F day and 73F evening
-medium consists of (potting soil, perlite & dol.lime )
-soil ph is 5.7
-strain is hashberry
Thank you.
p.s. hey Brian1975 you mentioned "letting the lil baby suck up the water", thats a good point u brought up becuz even tho I water her, i'm not sure if the soil is holding the water, it feels like it just drains out, any suggestions/recommendations? Thanks!
Every two days sounds alright for watering. How well does your medium drain? You should water when the medium feels dry (stick your finger down a few inches). The best way to know when to water is to check the weight of your pots (cups). The difference should be obvious between the weight right after you water and the weight when its dry. Lift the cup right after you water to get a sense for this. Also, does your dixie cup have any drainage holes? 1 oz. of water every two days is definitely not OVERwatering but with that dixie cup you want to watch out for putting too much water in there and causing your soil to get waterlogged. It seems like you're doing just fine for now!!
I am fond of my moisture meter. As time has gone on though, I find that I can tell now by weight, because of moving them when the meter has indicated low moisture.
Do you got holes in the bottom of the cup, every 2 days is toi much you want to wait every 4 days because they do not need much water once they sprout it's after they get 3 or 4 sets of leaves is when they need more routine watering the soil looks to wet, I would avoid watering every 2 days
wait till the soil drys and the cup gets light before watering again. You will start to have water issues if you don't ease up on the watering now. The leaves are showing some signs very early signs of water stress so ease up on the watering.
Not sure if it's just me but I don't agree that these are healthy.
Looking at the first picture it looks (at least to me) as though they are beginning to droop and make ram's horns.
This is a sure sign of over watering or dampening. Make sure you're using beneficials (hydroguard) to keep the dampening at a minimum.
Keep an eye on them though - I could easily be wrong but if the seedling keeps drooping more and more (rams horns) then ya know my suspicion is right on.
