Quick question about dolomite lime

I transplanted a couple of fems two days ago. I didnt have any dolomite lime left so I went ahead and did the transplant. My question is this, can I top dress with the lime and it be ok or does it have to be mixed in with the soil prior to planting? Sorry if this is a stupid question :pointlaug

I found that if you use the search button......you may actually find what you are looking for....

Dolomite won't mix well with water. It must be mixed completely into the soil.

Thanks for the reply. That is the same answer that I found in another thread. I'm not sure what to do really. I guess I gotta knock some dust off of my ph meter, hell I think I might have to re-calibrate it too.

hydrated lime mixed with warm water could do the trick, never done it just read it in jorges book.

Avoid this shit like the plague. I mistakenly used this stuff instead of dolomite, it doesnt seem to have a cap on the pH adjustment.... burned the shit outta my plants using the standard 1tbsp/gal.

When I've been in a spot with a plant in soil that needs dolomite added:

First you're good since you just transplanted. This means the roots have not had time to dig into the new soil too much yet. Pull the plant and lightly tap around the root ball (with soil dry).... much of the new soil will fall off and you'll end up with the hard, soil-ball surrounding the roots.

Now mix up the new soil with dolomite and drop her back in. Should take a day for her to get nestled in (if you minimize root damage) and then she should take off due to the pH balancing.

Good luck! Just dont wait too long!

Klutter, it is funny that you suggest that, because that is what I did yesterday. Everything should be running smooth here in a few days. Thx

I've seeen varied result with hydrated lime but alot of growers seem to have good results with it when being very careful with the amount and the growth stage.
I do not think it's a good substitute for dolomite but in a pinch where you need a liquid application it can bail you out.

Hey everyone,
I just thought I would share my experience with this product I found at Home Depot for like 5 bucks. I am a first time grower and I knew I wanted this dolomite lime stuff, but had no idea where to look or what exactly I was looking for.

So if you check out my first grow, you will see that I have 4 plants that will be cut on SUNDAY, HURRAH!!!!, Anyways, I had this runt that I didn't transplant into a bigger pot because I only built the grow box for three plants and I didn't want to waste time and soil on this little plant if it wasn't going to make it. Ya kNow what I mean.

But, I couldn't throw it out so I left it in its little starter cup for like three weeks and it was only 2.5 inches tall. Then it grew more and I decided at that point it was going to survive so I transplanted and I used this Lime stuff I found.

I bought it after I had already transplanted the other three, and I even asked someone about it and they said it was a bad idea. But of course I was having problems w/ cal and mag def. and I decided to mix it in the soil w/ this runt just to try it out.

ANd guess what, That little runt got big, and fast and was by far the HEALTHIEST plant in my box. It still is very healthy lookin considering how far along in bloom it is. My other three girls have lost almost all there fan leaves and this runt is a better, brighter green color too. No rust spots, no problems at all.

Well check it out:

My friend said that this is for an outdoor grow and it should be used like a month or two in advance to get the dirt ready for growing. I now disagree!

Before Transplant @ three weeeks old:

After transplant into soil mixed w/ epsoma lime, 2 weeks since last pic:

6 days later:

8 days later: 4.5 inches in 8 days!!!

AND NOW!!!

Well I just think this plant has come far, and for as healthy as it has been, I want to credit this to espoma lime stuff!

Peace and Good luck,

Well OG man, I am forced to use bagseed, this is only my first grow and I had no idea what I was doing until now. I feel pretty confident about growing anything now. I wanted to live and learn w/ free seeds rather than waste some good ones.

Please, go to my link and check out my whole thread to see everything that I did. Your all invited!

about 200 watts of Flouros in a 2 cubic ft. box,

Anyways, I ordered some good seeds from seedboutique and well I never recieved my seeds. Me and a buddy of mine went in on a 40 seed order. It has been like 3 or 4 months and I dont have anything to show for my money.

Oh well, I am planning on trying to order some seeds from this place in canada that people say is good. I think sending seeds from amsterdam is just too prone to theft or home land security. I think the canadian mail moves faster through the system. I hope. LOL

Oh well, maybe I will just revegg the plants I have, NEXt WEEK, and clone these girls and have nice winter harvest.

I am so excited about next week, 1st time I have ever seen a bud cut from a plant.

Peace, DRKN_MNKY420

Sounds like good advice.
You could take a road trip to Vancouver or Montreal, those places have shops that sell it on the down low
Can you tell what's on the back of that bag of Epsoma, I'm curious.
