Quick cloning question...

i was curious....can you cut clones and veg them up to size and then cut clones from them veg them and cut clones from them and so on and so forth without having a mother and it not affect the potency of the plant? in other words, i dont have a place to keep a mother that i can cut from so i would have to cut clones off each other over and over. just curious if that would decrease the original potency of the strain. like each time i cut it, would it drop the thc level a bit? is this making sense to any of you? im sorry i just dont really know how to explain it to well in words. hopefully you get the idea. any help is great. thanks.

yes, thats what i do...clone from a clone from a clone ect...i have not seen decrease in potency...and it saves alot of space and time w/o having to take care of mothers...this is the way i perfer to keep strains around.

Levitikuz is right; not to mention there has not been shown increased hermies either; that is a rumor. Just because you use clone from a clone from a clone does not mean it increases the chance of hermies........ if it does then it was strain related or growing enviromental stress.

Ill do that sometimes.I take a clone, Veg it up,and ill take some cuts right before i throw it in flower. Then ill just keep doin that.No decrease in anything.I have moms that i always keep, but when i dont have space at certain times i just put it in 12/12 after cloning with no probs./Ive never even heard before about herms comming from cloning clones, thats just the norm(cloning and cloning),i thought everyone takes clones from clones as you describe at some time.I even take clones from a clone thats in day 30ish of 12/12 and revegged/cloned with no problems when i have no space .So go ahead Bro and clone away.I dont give my clones anything until i transplant them.If i have a clone in a cup after rooting,i let it get nice in there and when i transplant into the next size,i then feed.I probably have them in the cup almost a week before i transplant depending on how the plant grows,it usually tells me when it wants a new home.Good luck Bro. Peace and stay safe,PVP :joint:

Indica's
Seedlings and clones 300-400ppm 5.3-5.5 ph
early vegg 500-600ppm 5.3-5.6 ph
middle vegg 600-800ppm 5.4-5.6 ph
late vegg 800-1000ppm 5.5-5.7 ph
early flower 1000-1300ppm 5.5-5.7 ph
middle flower 1400-1600ppm 5.5-5.8 ph
late flower 1000-1100ppm 5.5-5.7 ph
ripening 300-500ppm 5.4-5.6 ph

sativa's
seedlings and clones 250-350ppm 5.3-5.5 ph
early vegg 300-500ppm 5.3-5.6 ph
middle vegg 500-700ppm 5.4-5.6 ph
late vegg 700-900ppm 5.5-5.7 ph
early flower 1000-1100ppm 5.5-5.7 ph
middle flower 1100-1300ppm 5.5-5.8 ph
late flower 800-1000ppm 5.5-5.7 ph
ripening 300-500ppm 5.4-5.6 ph

this should give ya a little guide!

seems that the ph is guided to stay under 6.0.....is that a big factor? mine is usually at about 5.8 so i am good to always keep it at that through all phases of growth? thanks lev. answers my question perfectly.

can clones be cut anywhere on the branch as long as there are a few leaves or does it have to be cut close to the stem?

When you take a cutting for a clone, you will need to take a "growth tip", any tip of a branch or even the main stems growth tip. This growth tip will become the main stalk (meristem) of the new clones.

otoh, If you don't take a growth tip, but instead root a tipped off branch, you'll end up with a very branchy base, ( once it forms new shoots at the existing nodes) which will be missing its main cola in the center.

i know that much but do i have to cut it right where the branch base meets the main stem or can i leave and inch or so of the branch still attached to the plant?

you can leave and inch or so connected to plant as long as you get a cut thats 2 1/2 inches long, i do that all the time so i dont loose the whole shoot and still end up getting some nice bud production off it...so ya go for it!
